A method of providing therapy to a patient according to one embodiment includes generating an electrical noise signal by at least one noise generator controlled by a controller of a tunable noise system, partitioning the electrical noise signal into a plurality of discrete frequency bands, each of the discrete frequency bands having a corresponding bandwidth, delivering the electrical noise signal through one or more electrodes to the patient to target at least one of neural tissue or non-neural tissue of the patient, adjusting an amplitude of one or more of a voltage or current of the electrical noise signal within a selected frequency band of the plurality of discrete frequency bands to generate an adjusted electrical signal based on feedback received from the patient, and delivering the adjusted electrical signal through the one or more electrodes to provide therapy to the patient.

The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for selectively and reversibly modulating targeted neural and non-neural tissue of a nervous system for the treatment of pain. A system and method for locating a target nerve associated with a facet joint via nerve stimulation and monitoring of electrical muscle activity in a multifidus muscle adjacent the target nerve are described. The system includes a probe housed within a cannula and comprising a probe electrode; a recording electrode for monitoring electrical muscle activity in a medial fascicle of the multifidus muscle; a signal generator; and a controller coupled to the probe electrode and recording electrode. The controller delivers a nerve stimulation from the signal generator to the nerve via the probe electrode and monitors electrical muscle activity in the medial fascicle via the recording electrode. The probe's proximity to the nerve is determined by the electrical muscle activity in the medial fascicle elicited as a result of the nerve stimulation, where the controller provides feedback to a user to guide placement of the probe adjacent the nerve.

The present invention is directed to a system and method for adaptive multivariate control for performing a radiofrequency (RF) ablation procedure with an energy delivery device. The system includes an energy source for delivering energy to a patient's body; one or more energy delivery devices; two or more sensors for measuring at least two factors related to an ablation procedure, respectively; and at least one processor. The method includes steps of: measuring at least two factors related to an ablation procedure; determining a first operating threshold based, at least in part, on a first factor; controlling an energy delivery device based on the first operating threshold to create a lesion at the target site within the patient; determining a second operating threshold based, at least in part, on a second factor; switching control of the energy delivery device from the first factor to the second factor; and controlling the energy delivery device based on the second operating threshold to create a lesion at the target site within the patient. The present invention is also directed to a RF probe configured to be used with the adaptive multivariate control system and method to perform RF ablation procedures.

A method for identifying and treating a neural pathway associated with chronic pain via nerve stimulation and brain wave monitoring of a mammalian brain is described. The method includes positioning a probe to stimulate a target nerve, wherein the target nerve is suspected of being a source of chronic pain; delivering a first nerve stimulation from the probe to the target nerve, wherein the first nerve stimulation is sufficient to elicit a chronic pain response in the brain; and monitoring for evoked potential activity in the brain as a result of the first nerve stimulation. The method can also include delivering second and third nerve stimulations to confirm the correct identification of the neural pathway and to treat the chronic pain, respectively. A system and apparatus for performing a procedure to identify and treat a nerve that is the source of chronic pain are also described.

A multi-headed catheter for fluid delivery and a method of placing a multi-headed catheter for fluid delivery are provided. The multi-headed catheter includes a first tube extending along an axis, wherein the first tube has at least one exit hole provided at a distal end of the first tube to define a perfusion section of the first tube; and a second tube extending along the axis, wherein at least a portion of the second tube is disposed within the first tube, wherein the second tube has at least one exit hole provided at a distal end of the second tube to define a perfusion section of the second tube. The distal end of the second tube is configured to exit said first tube at an opening provided along a wall of the first tube. The perfusion sections of the first tube and the second tube can be independently placed to deliver fluid to distinct anatomical areas within a surgical wound site.
