A service is provided to cell phone subscribers to improve reachability. A home location register node maintains state information on a subscriber's cell phone status. Cell phone status information includes: off; on, registered and available to receive calls; on, registered but busy participating in an ongoing call; on, registered but temporarily unavailable; and on, registered but unattended. Temporarily unavailable is further qualified: poor reception location, high interference, cell throughput saturation, intentional user disposition. Long term unavailability may also be inferred and indicated depending on the device and/or system status. When a call to a subscriber's cell phone cannot be completed or is not answered, the service annunciates the reason to the calling party. The calling party can then make a more informed decision as to when to reattempt the call and is more likely to reattempt the call. The service is provided in conjunction with call forwarding to landlines phones and/or voicemail.

Schemes for processing a voice command from a caller are disclosed herein. The schemes may allow a caller to manipulate data using a voice command and designate a device to which to provide the manipulated data. The schemes may be accessed over telecommunication networks. According to one exemplary embodiment, a method of processing a voice command from a caller may include receiving from the caller a voice command to manipulate a set of data. The voice command may be processed using a voice-recognition application. The set of data may be manipulated to obtain a different modified set of data, and the modified set of data may be provided to a device designated by the caller.

Methods of processing a voice command from a caller

A method and system for administering calls on a voice network allows a user to selectively determine which calls will be accepted and assists the user in placing calls to other users on the network. The user may establish a list of users whose calls will be accepted and may also establish a list of users whose calls will not be accepted. The method and system may provide unwanted callers with an option to speak with the user for a fee. Users may establish 'business card' headers, or profiles, which serve to identify the user to a called party. The user may also maintain profiles for received calls by using the 'business card' header provided by the caller, or by inputting caller profiles. The method and system may also be used in conjunction with a scheduling system, such that calls amongst two or more users will be initiated at an agreed upon time.
