A rotor having multiple poles is provided and includes at each pole an end winding support forming a channel, a bus bar disposed in the channel and edge-wound coils disposed to extend around the end-winding support and the bus bar. The edge-wound coils are stacked radially and include an inner diameter coil routed to an adjacent pole and brazed to an inner diameter coil of the adjacent pole and an outer diameter coil brazed to the bus bar.

An aircraft main power generation system includes a rotor shaft, a main power generator a permanent magnet, an exciter, an aircraft power bus, and a generator control unit. The generator control unit is configured to provide a control current to the exciter in response to a speed of the main power generator reaching a threshold speed and electrically couple the main power generator to the aircraft power bus in response to the speed of the main power generator reaching a minimum operating speed, the threshold speed being lower than the minimum operating speed; or provide a control current to the exciter in response to the speed of the main power generator reaching a predetermined speed and electrically coupling the main power generator to the aircraft power bus in response to a time period elapsing after the speed of the main power generator has reached the predetermined speed.

An example arrangement for driving a turbomachine includes an input shaft that is configured to rotate a rotor of the turbomachine through a hydraulic log and gear differential rotatable coupled to the input shaft. A motor-generator is rotatably coupled to the differential. The motor-generator has a motor mode of operation and a generator mode of operation. The motor-generator is configured to drive the input shaft through the hydraulic log and differential when the motor-generator is in the motor mode of operation. The input shaft is configured to drive the motor-generator through the hydraulic log and differential when the motor-generator is in the generator mode of operation.

The generator is configured to generate power based on the rotation of the shaft. A filter is configured to filter the fluid from the main cavity to the fluid scavenge channel and a sensor is configured to detect a characteristic of the fluid at the filter.

Auxiliary power unit generator

An arrangement and method for driving a turbomachine having a rotor is provided. The arrangement includes an input shaft rotationally coupled to the rotor. A motor generator device has a motor mode of operation and a generator mode of operation. A differential gear device having a first portion rotationally coupled to the input shaft and a second portion rotationally coupled to the motor generator device. A hydraulic assembly is rotationally coupled between the differential gear and the input shaft. The hydraulic assembly has a plurality of pistons and a pair of wobbler plates. A controller is operably coupled to the input shaft, the motor generator device and the hydraulic assembly, wherein the controller includes a processor that is responsive to executable instructions when executed on the processor for moving the pair of wobbler plates to a first position during a motor mode of operation.

A rotor for an induction motor has a plurality of central laminations defining a central bore extending along an axis. End laminations are at each axial end of the central laminations. Metal is within gaps formed between lamination teeth. The end laminations have teeth extending radially outwardly from a central ring portion. A bore is formed in a face of the end laminations facing outwardly, and adjacent to where the teeth connect into the central ring portion. A motor and method are also described.
