A sensor system for determining at least one parameter of a fluid medium which flows in a main flow direction, e.g., an intake air mass flowing through a flow pipe, includes at least one sensor situated in the fluid medium and at least one grating which is situated transversely to the main flow direction and which has at least one bar. On at least one surface over which the fluid medium flows, the bar has at least one shearing element which is designed to generate a region in the flow having a turbulent flow downstream from the shearing element.

A sensor system for determining at least one parameter of a fluid medium flowing through a channel, in particular of an intake air mass of an internal combustion engine. The sensor system has at least one sensor chip situated in the channel for determining the parameter of the fluid medium. The sensor chip is accommodated in a sensor carrier that extends into the channel. The sensor carrier has an inflow edge situated transversely to the flow of the fluid medium, which on its part has at least one turbolator, which is equipped to develop turbulences in the flowing fluid medium in the area of the sensor carrier.

To determine air mass flows, especially for controlling internal combustion engines, a hot-film air-mass sensor is provided, which may be used especially for sensing air mass flows in the intake tract of an internal combustion engine. The hot-film air-mass sensor has a sensor chip having a sensor frame and a sensor diaphragm having at least one heating element and at least two temperature sensors. Furthermore, the hot-film air-mass sensor has a chip carrier for mounting the sensor chip, as well as at least one additional heating element. The sensor chip is able to be heated up using the at least one additional heating element, which is inserted into the chip carrier. Compared to the usual devices, the hot-film air-mass sensor has a lower susceptibility to contamination, especially by oil films.

A device for determining a parameter of a medium flowing in a line, according to the related art, does not offer sufficient protection for a measuring element from liquid or solid particles which may dirty or damage the measuring element in an unwanted way. A device has an input region, whence, on the one hand, the flowing medium flows into the measuring channel, and on the other hand, through at least one separation opening, liquid and solid particles flow, and thus flow so as to bypass the measuring channel.

The invention relates to a device for determining at least one parameter of a medium flowing in a line, in particular the intake air mass of an internal combustion engine. The solid particles contained in the line act on a measuring element and influence a characteristic curve behavior of the measuring element, which is used to determine parameters of the flowing medium. In order to reduce the action of solid particles on the measuring element, the measuring element is disposed in a line or a tubular body downstream of a protective screen, and an element for influencing movement paths of the solid particles is disposed in the line, on an inner wall. By intentionally influencing the movement paths of the solid particles, their action on the measuring element is considerably reduced.

A measurement device for measuring the mass of a medium flowing along a flow direction, in particular the intake air mass of an internal combustion engine, has a plate-shaped sensor element, which is inserted into a recess of a sensor support. The arrangement includes an actuable element movable over a maximum possible operating range between two outermost limits including a normal operating work range within the limits; an electrically actuable actuating device for controlling the actuable element; a control unit for generating actuating signals for controlling the actuable element and for supplying the actuating signals to the actuating device; the control unit is adapted to generate the signals so as to cause the actuable element to move over most of the maximum possible operating range in a manner to prevent jammings with the actuable element being moved outside of the normal operating work range at least beyond one end of the normal operating work range; the actuable element being moved starting from a desired position for every possible direction of movement; and, the actuable element being moved at least at one of the following times: ahead of the start of the drive unit and after the drive unit has been switched off.
