A nuclear fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor extends along a fuel assembly axis and includes a base including a lower tie plate, a head including an upper tie plate and a lift handle, a bundle of fuel rods extending axially between the lower tie plate and the upper tie plate, and a water channel extending within the bundle of fuel rods with axially connecting the base to the head such that the load of the base is transferred to the head via the water channel. The fuel assembly further comprises a tie rod extending between the base and the head. The tie rod is axially fixed to the base and connected to the head via a connection assembly comprising a stopping member configured to abut an abutting surface of the head for limiting a downward movement of the base relative to the head during lifting of the fuel assembly, in case of a breakage of the water channel.

The lower nozzle is of the type having an axis and comprising a transverse lower tie plate for channeling the coolant through the lower tie plate and a tubular skirt extending axially from the periphery of the lower tie plate, the skirt delimiting an axial housing closed at one end by the lower tie plate and open at the opposite end, a debris filter configured for axial insertion in the housing and snap-fit springs for retaining the debris filter in the housing after insertion. The springs are configured to shift the debris filter axially towards the lower tie plate.

A nuclear fuel assembly is provided for a boiling water reactor. The nuclear fuel assembly includes a base, a head, and a bundle of full length fuel rods and partial length fuel rods, said bundle extending upwardly and longitudinally from the base to the head. A fuel assembly for a light water reactor contains a fuel rod cluster and a spacer that has a number of cells, bounded by webs for laterally holding fuel rods. A damaged region including at least one damaged cell is present in an edge region of a spacer. There being fastened above or below the damaged region on the spacer with the aid of at least one connecting part is a replacement assembly that contains at least a number of cells that corresponds to the number of the damaged cells, at least a portion of the cells being traversed by fuel rods. A method for repairing the light water reactor fuel assembly in the case of which fixed above or below the damaged region on the spacer is a replacement assembly that takes over the holding function at least of one defective cell.

A fuel element for a nuclear reactor has a fuel rod bundle, at least one spacer with cells defined by at least one web section made from a first material and several guide tubes each running through a cell and axially fixed thereto made from a second material. The first and second materials have differing thermal expansion coefficients. The connection between the guide tube and the spacer is embodied as follows: first and second projections are directly or indirectly fixed to the guide tube. The first projections are disposed in a first axial position and the second projections are arranged at a second axial position and the projections each engage in an opening through the web section to give an axially-acting undercut.

A fuel assembly for a boiling-water reactor has a water channel and a fuel assembly base, made from a sieve plate and a frame section enclosing the same. The water channel supports a plug with a bore running therethrough, at the lower end thereof, to which the fuel assembly base is fixed. The fuel assembly further comprises an opening through the sieve plate, a skirt, formed on the underside of the plug, surrounding the bore, extending into the opening in the sieve plate, a bush, provided with a first and a second longitudinal section, whereby the first longitudinal section extends from the underside of the sieve plate into the opening in a rotationally-fixed manner and a radial shoulder is provided between the two sections which contacts the underside of the sieve plate. A threaded section of a screw extends through the bush which engages in a thread in the bore in the plug.

A pressurized water reactor fuel assembly includes a can with a flange engaging an upper surface of an upper tie plate through a bore and carrying a collar projecting beyond a lower surface of the upper tie plate and having an external thread. A bush at an upper end of a guide tube has an internal thread and an end surface which abuts the lower surface of the upper tie plate. A profile at the periphery of the bush engages a corresponding counter profile of the lower surface of the upper tie plate. This removable screw connection, which is also suitable for coolant tubes of boiling-water fuel assemblies, requires little of the cross-sectional area required for coolant bores and no individual tolerance equalization of the screw connections of an individual plate.
