Two threads may communicate via shared memory using two different modes. In a polling mode, a receiving thread may poll an indicator set by the sending thread to determine if a message is present. In a blocking mode, the receiving thread may wait until a synchronization object is set by the sending thread which may cause the receiving thread to return to the polling mode. The polling mode may have low latency buy may use processor activity of the receiving thread to repetitively check the indictor. The blocking mode may have a higher latency but may allow the receiving thread to enter a sleep mode or perform other activities.

Synchronizing communication over shared memory

A method for capturing breakpoint information from a debuggee software process includes generating a breakpoint condition based upon a breakpoint request received from a user computing device corresponding to a user and transmitting the generated breakpoint condition to debuglets, each corresponding to a software process executed by a debuggee service. The debuggee service executes on a distributed system, and each debuglet translates the generated breakpoint condition to a physical breakpoint condition set to the respective software process. The method also includes receiving a request from one of the debuglets to update active breakpoint information captured by the debuglet upon the physical breakpoint condition being hit by one of the software processes and transmitting a notification from the processing device indicating the physical breakpoint condition being hit to the user computing device.

Debugging computer programming code in a cloud debugger environment

Two clocks may be synchronized by calculating skew and offset values that may be determined from several correlation events. A correlation event may be the passing of messages in both directions between the two devices. The skew and offset values may be used to determine the time of non-correlated events. The clock synchronization may be performed on a real time basis or may be performed on a post processing basis. One method for calculating the skew and offset may use inequalities within a solution space to refine a solution set with multiple sets of correlation events.

The identification of transactional boundaries among the messages sent and received within a transactional message system is disclosed. In one embodiment, a system includes a first computer and a second computer. The first computer is designed to set transactional boundaries among messages. The second computer is designed to determine the transactional boundaries thereamong&mdash;specifically such that it can determine whether at least a proper first and last message of a particular transaction has been received. In one embodiment, transactional boundaries are set among messages by tagging the first message of a transaction with a first-message identifier, and the last message with a last-message identifier. All the messages of the transaction can also be tagged with an identifier particular to the transaction.
