Devices and methods presented in this disclosure provide a single-channel WLAN device with a small add-on in the form of a second digital interface component and switch circuitry to allow for two such WLAN devices to be cascaded to support dual-channel WLAN operations. The WLAN device may include a first digital interface component including a first digital interface terminal configured for communicating with a first device external to the WLAN device; a second digital interface component including a second digital interface terminal configured for communicating with a second device external to the WLAN device; a switch circuitry coupling the first digital interface component to the second digital interface component and to a WLAN modem; and the WLAN modem configured to operate in one or more frequency bands and including one or more terminals configured to be coupled with a RF front end (FE) circuitry.

Systems and methods are described herein for authenticating a user device that uses a wireless local area network, determining the location of the device, and complying with wireless guidelines based at least in part on the location. The user device may communicate with a location server to determine the user device's location. The user device will determine which wireless guidelines are applicable to that location and configure the wireless system or any device feature to comply with the guidelines. For example, some locations prohibit the operation of wireless devices with a frequency of greater than 5 GHz. If the location of the user device dictates compliance with that guideline, the user device will not transmit wireless signals with a frequency of greater than 5 GHz.

Techniques for distributed management of wireless devices with shared resources between wireless components

A wireless internet card to support enhancing power efficiency. The wireless internet comprises a front end comprising shared frequency resources. The wireless internet card also comprises a first wireless block and a second wireless block. While the first wireless block is in low-power mode, the second wireless block may get access to the shared radio frequency resources without waking-up the first wireless block thus enhancing the power efficiency. The second wireless block sends a request to the first wireless block to use shared radio frequency resources. A coexistence block coupled to the second wireless block and the first wireless block may wait for a time duration to elapse after the request is received and may allow the second wireless block to use the shared radio frequency resources if the time duration is elapsed.

Enhancing power efficiency in a wireless internet card

An embodiment of the present invention provides an apparatus, comprising a network adapter configured for wireless communication using more than one technology, and wherein the network adapter is configured to share a plurality of shared hardware components by limiting access to the air to one comm only at given time by designating one comm that owns the shared hardware components as a primary comm and all other comms are secondary comms, wherein the primary comm allows the secondary comms to use the shared hardware components when it is in an idle-state but when the primary comm returns from the idle state, it claims ownership of the shared resources and the secondary comms release the shared resources.

Embodiments of the present disclosure describe method, apparatus, and system configurations to provide user-entered credentials for a mobile station in a wireless network. A method includes receiving, by one or more service provider devices of a wireless network from a mobile station, an indication that the mobile station is ready for activation in the wireless network and sending, by the one or more service provider devices to the mobile station during a subscription process that is performed in response to the indication that the mobile station is ready for activation, a message prompting or indicating a creation of credentials to be entered by a user of the mobile station to authenticate the mobile station on re-entry to the wireless network.
