A portable terminal having a hinge apparatus is provided. The portable terminal includes a first housing, a second housing pivotally coupled to the first housing so that the second housing can be unfolded from and folded onto the first housing, and a hinge apparatus coupling the first housing and the second housing together. The hinge apparatus provides a first hinge axis and a second hinge axis perpendicular to each other, in which, from the folded state in which the second housing is folded on the first housing, the second housing is operable to rotate about the first hinge axis to be located in an upper side of the first housing and to rotate about the second hinge axis to be located in a first side of the first housing. Also, the hinge apparatus allows the second housing to rotate about the first hinge axis to be unfolded at an angle of approximately 90&#xb0; with respect to the first housing and then rotate about the second hinge axis so that an inner face of the second housing is oriented in a same direction in which a first side of the portable terminal faces. Therefore, the hinge apparatus provides a portable terminal that is convenient to use not only communication functions, but also multimedia services such as watching broadcastings.

Disclosed herein is a rotation-stop mechanism for a folder of a portable wireless terminal. The rotation-stop mechanism enables the folder to be opened away from the terminal body at various angles, according to the user's need, while smoothly maintaining the opening and closing operation of the folder. The rotation-stop mechanism can stop the rotation of the folder in a state wherein the folder is opened away from the terminal body at an angle of or about 90&#xb0;, according to the user's need, while allowing the folder to be smoothly opened away from or closed to the terminal body. Further, the folder can be freely opened away from the terminal body at angles of at or about 90&#xb0; or at or about 150&#xb0;. Furthermore, in the case of the portable wireless terminal installed with a camera lens, since the folder can be firmly fixed when it is opened away from the terminal body at an angle of or about 90&#xb0;, the portable wireless terminal is advantageous for stable image capturing and video communications.

A device for connecting a main board with an LCD module in a folder type portable radiotelephone which includes a body element having the main board, a folder having a speaker unit, the LCD module and a hinge arm, and a hinge disposed in the hinge arm for mechanically coupling the body element and the folder with each other such that the folder can be rotated at one end of the body element. The folder further includes a flexible printed circuit connected to a speaker unit and the LCD module. The device further comprises a first connector connected to the flexible printed circuit of the folder; a second connector which is connected to the first connector; a first hinge connector positioned in the hinge arm; a first electrical connection connecting the second connector and the first hinge connector; a third connector installed in the main board of the body element; a fourth connector which is connected to the third connector; and second hinge connector connected to the fourth connector by a second electrical connection, the second hinge connector further connected to the first hinge connector in the axial direction thereby connecting the main board with the flexible printed circuit.
