The invention relates to a thermal infrared transparent polymer film suitable for use in an identification device, said film comprising an infrared transparent polymer matrix with a pigment dispersed therein, wherein the thickness of the polymer film is greater than 30 micron and wherein the polymer film has an average transmission in the thermal infrared of greater than or equal to 0.5. Preferably, the pigment comprises an inorganic material. There is further provided a thin film, thermally reflective material () comprising the afore-mentioned infrared transparent film () and an infrared reflective layer provided on one surface thereof ().

This invention relates to a security label for the detection of counterfeiting and tampering. The invention comprises a combination of an iridescent laminated or multilayered material with a lenticular layer. The iridescent layer exhibits an angular dependence in its coloration in reflection and/or transmission and the lenticular layer acts as a filter to light of a given angle of incidence.

This invention relates to the control of radiant thermal energy and more specifically to highly Thermal Infrared (IR) reflective pigments for use in decorative coatings for buildings or other areas where the control of IRenergy and visual decoration are required. Control of the spread of thermal energy in domestic buildings through passive techniques reduces energy consumption by reducing reliance on heating in cool environments and cooling air-conditioning in warm environments. A number of paint formulations having low emissivity in the thermal infrared exist which are based on variants of conventional decorative paint fluids. There are a number of problems associated with such formulations such as susceptibility to damage and high emissivity for certain color pigmentations. The present invention proposes a low emissivity flake for use in a paint formulation which substantially overcomes the problems associated with the prior art.
