A balancing system includes a rotor hub having a center axis and a balancing ring surrounding the rotor hub. The balancing ring includes a plurality of ring teeth. A pinion gear includes a plurality of gear teeth in meshing engagement with the plurality of ring teeth, wherein the pinion gear is selectively rotated to adjust a position of the balancing ring relative to the rotor hub.

A seal comprises a housing. A coating has at least two layers with a bond layer to be positioned between a housing and a second hard layer. The second hard layer is formed to be harder than the bond layer. The bond layer has a bond strength greater than or equal to 200 psi and less than or equal to 2000 psi. A gas turbine engine, and a method of forming a coating layer are also disclosed.

Fan assemblies for gas turbine engines include a rotor disk having a plurality of lugs with a plurality of slots defined between adjacent lugs. A fan platform is configured to be mounted to a lug of the plurality of lugs, the fan platform having a forward tab and an aft tab. An aft retention ring is configured to be fixedly attached to an aft side of the rotor disk and has a platform retention hook for receiving the aft tab of the fan platform. A forward retention ring is configured to be fixedly attached to a forward side of the rotor disk, the forward retention ring having a tab hook configured to attach the forward retention ring to the lug of the plurality of lugs and retain the forward tab of the fan platform to the lug of the plurality of lugs.

Platform for an airfoil of a gas turbine engine

A turbine engine strut stage extends through a gaspath upstream of a guide vane stage. A carbon seal system seals a bearing compartment and has: a carbon seal mounted to the case and a seal runner on the spool; and a seal carrier carrying the carbon seal. The engine passes buffer air along a buffer air supply path internally through one or more first struts of the stage of struts. The engine drains oil along an oil drain path internally through one or more second struts of the stage of struts.

A gas turbine engine includes a core housing that includes an inlet case and an intermediate case that respectively provide an inlet case flow path and an intermediate case flow path. A first shaft supports a low pressure compressor section that is arranged axially between the inlet case flow path and the intermediate case flow path. A first bearing supports the first shaft relative to the inlet case. A second bearing supports a second shaft relative to the intermediate case. A low pressure compressor hub is mounted to the first shaft. The low pressure compressor hub extends to the low pressure compressor section between the first bearing and the second bearing.

A case clearance control system comprising a blade outer air seal support structure having a plurality of protrusions extending radially from the blade outer air seal support structure opposite a blade outer air seal proximate the blade outer air seal support structure; a thermal control ring coupled to the blade outer air seal support structure, the thermal control ring including a plurality of receivers configured to couple with the plurality of protrusions; a thermal break formed between the plurality of protrusions and the plurality of receivers, the thermal break configured to control heat transfer between the blade outer air seal support structure and the thermal control ring; and a plurality of flow passages formed between the blade outer air seal support structure, the thermal control ring and the plurality of protrusions, the plurality of flow passages configured to allow cooling air flow to condition the thermal control ring and maintain thermal control ring dimensions.

A compressor case to blade tip clearance system comprising a rotor having blades with tips, the case including an inner case comprising at least one surface feature fluidly coupled to a distribution manifold disposed in a cooling air passageway, the at least one surface feature configured to interact with the cooling air, and a tip clearance located between the tips and the inner case; wherein the tip clearance is maintained responsive to a flow of the cooling air over the at least one surface feature.

The downstream end includes a radially outer threaded surface and a radially inner threaded surface. A turbine tie shaft has an upstream end with a radially outer threaded surface in engagement with the radially inner threaded surface on the compressor tie shaft.

Tie shaft assembly for a gas turbine engine

A turbine is operably connected to drive a compressor, and to drive a fan through a gear drive. A number of intermediate gears connecting an output shaft of the turbine to a fan drive shaft for the fan. An oil channel collects oil thrown outwardly of the gear drive. A bearing support mounts bearings supporting the fan drive shaft. The oil channel and the bearing support each include mating faces that are bolted together by a plurality of bolts. The bolts extend through oil channel holes in the mating face of the oil channel. The oil channel holes have one dimension which closely receives the bolts and another dimension which is larger than an outer diameter of the extending portion of the bolts, such that the bolts may adjust radially within the oil channel holes.

A thermal management system for a component of a gas turbine engine is disclosed. In various embodiments, the thermal management system includes a manifold extending circumferentially about a longitudinal axis and defining a plenum; a cooling fluid transfer tube disposed within the plenum and configured to transfer a component cooling fluid from a component cooling fluid source to the component; and a cooling fluid passageway connected to the manifold and configured to transfer a plenum cooling fluid from a plenum cooling fluid source to the plenum.

A high pressure compressor section of a gas turbine engine including: an inner case separating a core flow path of the gas turbine engine and a plenum formed between the inner case and an outer case; a bleed port located on an inner surface of the inner case, the inner surface being proximate the core flow path; an outlet located on an outer surface of the inner case, the outer surface being proximate the plenum; and a bleed air passageway passing through the inner case to fluidly connect the bleed port to the outlet, wherein the bleed air passageway is fluidly connected to the core flow path through the bleed port and the bleed air passageway is fluidly connected to the plenum through the outlet.

The gas turbine engine includes a first rotor supporting a first plurality of circumferentially spaced rotor blades and a second rotor disposed axially downstream of the first rotor and supporting a second plurality of circumferentially spaced rotor blades, a first bore cavity between the first rotor and the second rotor, a first fluid passageway configured to provide cooled air to the first bore cavity and a first anti-vortex component positioned proximate the first bore cavity and configured to increase pressure of the cooled air as the cooled air traverses radially outward from the first bore cavity.

A vane strut positioning and securement system includes a housing including a washer aperture defined in an inner diameter thereof and a lock washer disposed within the washer aperture of the housing, the lock washer configured to lock a vane strut orientation under compression against a vane strut washer. The washer aperture is defined partially through a thickness of the housing, and the housing includes a strut post opening defined through the housing from the inner diameter to an outer diameter of the housing.
