This invention relates to a method to modulate exogenous gene expression in which an ecdysone receptor complex comprising: a DNA binding domain; a ligand binding domain; a transactivation domain; and a ligand is contacted with a DNA construct comprising: the exogenous gene and a response element; wherein the exogenous gene is under the control of the response element and binding of the DNA binding domain to the response element in the presence of the ligand results in activation or suppression of the gene. The ligands comprise a class of ketones.

The present invention is directed to a compound having the formula wherein R, R, G, and Q are defined herein. The compounds of the present invention are useful as inhibitors of protein kinases such as MAP kinases, in particular p38 kinases. The present invention is also directed to compositions comprising a compound according to the above formula. The compounds and compositions described herein are useful for treating and preventing an inflammatory condition or disease. The present invention is also directed to a method of treating or preventing a protein kinase-mediated condition.

N-acetonylbenzamide fungicides

The present invention relates to fungicidal compositions and their use as a method for controlling phytopathogenic fungi comprising the application of a selected fungicidally active N-acetonylbenzamide compound and a second fungicidally active compound selected from an acylalanine type fungicide to plant seed, to plant foliage or to a plant growth medium. The compositions and method of use provide higher fungicidal activity than separate use of the same compounds.

Fungicidal compositions containing N-acetonylbenzamides

A method for inhibiting mammalian cell growth is disclosed. The method uses compounds known as N-acetonylarylamides. The compounds have been shown to inhibit cell mitosis and to inhibit microtubule assembly. The method may be used to treat diseases associated with rapid cell growth, particularly cancer. The compounds used in the method of the present invention may be used in combination with other therapies and may be administered by known techniques for drug administration.

Method for inhibiting the growth of mammalian cells

A method for treating protozoal infections is described. The method employs N-acetonylbenzamide compounds provided in an effective amount to inhibit the growth of protozoans. The compounds are useful in controlling such protozoan parasites as Giardia lamblia, Leishmania major, Entamoeba histolytica, Cryptosporidium parvum, Toxoplasma gondii and microsporidia.
