A computing system comprises an abstracted interface comprising a plurality of sub-interfaces differently configured from one another in terms of underlying communication hardware and software supported by the sub-interface. The abstracted interface further comprises a unified interface communicatively coupled with each of the sub-interfaces. Each sub-interface is configured to abstract away its respective underlying communication hardware and software from the unified interface. The unified interface is further configured to provide communication between the communication service and the control center. A monitoring service is configured to observe communication activity and output one or more communication parameters. A data prioritization policy is chosen based upon the one or more communication parameters. Data is selected for transmission based upon the data prioritization policy. The selected data is provided to one or more of the plurality of sub-interfaces selected based upon the data prioritization policy to thereby transmit the selected data.

The method also includes assessing an encounter between the ownship and the traffic, wherein assessing the encounter between the ownship and the traffic includes applying an encounter assessment policy to the traffic predicted trajectory and the ownship predicted trajectory. The method further includes generating encounter assessment data in response to assessing the encounter between the ownship and the traffic. The encounter assessment data is used to at least detect and avoid the traffic by the ownship.

The description may be used to generate a predicted aircraft trajectory, for example by air traffic management. Rules are used in association with information provided to express the flight intent of the aircraft in a formal language. The flight intent describes a flight in terms of flight segments, and provides information of the path to be flown and how it is to be flown. The flight intent does not necessarily define unambiguously the aerodynamic configuration of the aircraft and the motion of the aircraft during the flight. The flight intent is used alongside other information to generate the aircraft intent that does describe unambiguously the aircraft's trajectory.
