A method of operating a power protection system coupled between a power source and a power converter includes producing, by a controller of the power protection system, a driving signal to a cut-off switch of the power protection system to electrically couple the power source to the power converter; detecting, by the controller of the power protection system, a fault condition of the power converter while the power converter is in operation, where the detecting includes detecting, by the controller of the power protection system, that a current flowing through the cut-off switch is above a pre-determined threshold while a gate control signal from the power converter indicates an OFF state for a first current path of the power converter; and in response to detecting the fault condition, turning off, by the controller of the power protection system, the cut-off switch to isolate the power source from the power converter.

Protection circuit with a cut-off switch for power systems

A PWM controlled multi-phase resonant voltage converter may include a plurality of primary windings powered through respective half-bridges, and as many secondary windings connected to an output terminal of the converter and magnetically coupled to the respective primary windings. The primary or secondary windings may be connected such that a real or virtual neutral point is floating.

Multi-phase resonant converter and method of controlling it

The disclosure is directed to techniques for a pass element in a linear regulator circuit. The pass element is configured with a transistor with a low input capacitance that provides current to the load for light current demand levels. When the output current exceeds a predetermined threshold, the pass element is configured to turn on a second transistor to provide the additional current. The configuration of the pass element with the regulator circuit causes the regulator circuit to operate with a low quiescent current and with large bandwidth for fast response to load changes.

Low quiescent fast linear regulator

A synchronous regulator controller, including a synchronous switch that is coupled between a first node and a second node. The controller also includes a first voltage divider that includes a first resistive device that is coupled between the first node and a third node, and a second resistive device that is coupled between the third node and a second node. The controller also includes a comparator having a first input that is coupled to the first node, and a second input that is coupled to a forth node. The controller also includes a current source that is arranged to provide a current to the fourth node. The controller also includes a third resistive device that is coupled between the third node and the fourth node.

Current threshold detection in synchronous regulation

A circuit arrangement including a first transistor, a second transistor and a third transistor. The first transistor and the second transistor are configured so that the current flowing through the first transistor is proportional to the current flowing through the second transistor and the third transistor. The first transistor, the second transistor and the third transistor are configured to operate in an ohmic mode. The second transistor and the third transistor are coupled in series to each other. The first transistor, the second transistor and the third transistor match each other in at least one characteristic.

Current sensing circuit arrangement for output voltage regulation

In an embodiment, a method of operating a switched-mode power supply includes producing an error signal based on a difference between a power supply output voltage and a reference voltage. A clock frequency is produced that is proportional to the error signal up to maximum frequency, and a sensed current signal is produced that is proportional to a current in switched-mode power supply. The error signal is summed with the sensed current signal to produce a first signal, and the first signal is compared to a first threshold. The method also includes producing a first edge of a drive signal at a first edge of the clock signal, and producing a second edge of the drive signal when the first signal crosses the first threshold in a first direction based on the comparing, where the second edge opposite the first edge.

System and method for controlling a switched-mode power supply

In an embodiment, a method of driving a switch transistor includes activating the switch transistor by charging a control node of the switch transistor at a first charging rate for a first time duration. After charging the control node of the switch transistor at the first charging rate, the control node of the switch transistor is further charged at a second charging rate until the control node of the switch transistor reaches a target signal level, where the second charging rate is less than the first charging rate.
