A method and an apparatus are provided for encoding and/or decoding digital images or video streams. The encoding apparatus includes a processor configured for reading at least a portion of an image (f), determining a rotation angle (&#x3b8;) on the basis of the portion of the image (f), determining rotated transform matrix (V') which is the result of a rotation of at least one basis vector of a Discrete Cosine Transform matrix (V) by the rotation angle (&#x3b8;), computing transformed coefficients (f{circumflex over (&#x2003;)}) on the basis of the pixel values contained in the portion of the image (f) and the rotated transform information (V&#x2032;), outputting the transformed coefficients (f{circumflex over (&#x2003;)}) to the destination.

Apparatuses and methods for encoding and decoding images

A device, a user equipment, and methods for registering and authenticating the user equipment are provided, wherein the user equipment includes an image sensor, communication components for communicating with the device, control and processing components configured for acquiring at least one image by way of the image sensor, generating an authentication sensor fingerprint on the basis of the at least one acquired image, coding at least one portion of the authentication sensor fingerprint by way of a random projection algorithm, so as to generate at least one compressed portion (W') of the authentication sensor fingerprint, transmitting, through the communication components, the at least one compressed portion (W&#x2032;) to the device.

A method and a device for searching for images in memory containing at least one or more images and, for each image, at least one sensor fingerprint associated with the image and related to the sensor that acquired the image includes a reading phase, wherein a search sensor fingerprint is read, a compression phase, wherein the search sensor fingerprint and at least one of the sensor fingerprints associated with the images are compressed by using a random projection technique, and a searching phase, wherein the images contained in the memory are either selected or discarded by comparing the sensor fingerprints of the images with the search sensor fingerprint.
