A technique of authenticating an operator of a wireless terminal device is presented, wherein the first terminal device comprises a subscriber identity module (SIM) and wherein a subscription identifier is stored in the SIM. A method aspect of this technique comprises receiving the subscription identifier or a temporary identifier associated with the subscription identifier. The method aspect also comprises receiving a first set of biometric data of the operator, wherein the first set of biometric data has been entered by the operator at the terminal device, and sending a database request towards a subscriber database in a core network domain of a wireless communication system, the database request including the subscription identifier or the temporary identifier. The method further comprises receiving, in response to the database request, a second set of biometric data associated in the subscriber database with the subscription identifier or the temporary identifier, and authenticating the first set of biometric data on the basis of the second set of biometric data so as to obtain a first authentication result.

Technique for authenticating operators of wireless terminal devices

Methods and network devices implement a lawful interception (LI) trigger control function as an LI target handler and a modified trigger control function. A generic LI triggering interface enables the modified trigger control function to query the LI target handler regarding whether entities using a network function instance are in a target list. The LI target handler has to meet the LI security requirements, but the modified trigger control function does not have to meet such requirements.

The invention relates to a radio network controller (RNC) for receiving a LOCATION_REPORTING_CONTROL message and analyzing a value of a request type information element received in the LOCATION_REPORTING_CONTROL message. The RNC directly determines requested location information for a user equipment (UE) if the request information element indicates sending location information as a direct response to the LOCATION_REPORTING_CONTROL message or the RNC determines the requested location information if the UE changes the service area if the request information element indicates sending location information at a change of service area by the UE. The invention relates to a method for distinguishing between LOCATION_REPORT messages to avoid ambiguities. Therefore, a value of an information element of request type is returned by a radio network controller, depending on an intended receiver of the location information. A control node receiving the information element value analyses said value and determines the receiver depending on the result of said analysis.

Method and telecommunications system for controlling paging flow in a network for cellular communications

A method of controlling paging flow in a network for cellular communications is described, which comprises the steps of: at a control node, receiving a request for paging a mobile station; determining a location area in which the paging shall be performed; checking whether the number of paging transactions which are ongoing for the location area is lower than at least one maximum number of ongoing paging transactions allowed for the location area; after a determination that the number of ongoing paging transactions is lower than the maximum number, updating the number of ongoing paging transactions for the location area and processing the paging request. Systems and methods for legal interception of the transmission of personalized ring back tones as they are sent from a network such as a mobile telephone network associated with a subscriber to a caller in response to a call placed by the caller to the subscriber to allow monitoring of personalized ring back tones and/or their associated call content data.
