An adhesive fastener for securement to a substrate which has a reservoir comprising a reservoir cup and a piston located therein blocking entry of atmospheric water vapor and preventing unintentional leakage of adhesive from the reservoir and a wall portion of the reservoir may be displaced to prevent hydraulic lock as the piston is pushed into the reservoir during assembly of the fastener and also when the fastener is being deployed against the substrate. Apparatus and a method of filling the reservoir cups and inserting pistons therein while excluding atmospheric water vapor is disclosed.

Adhesively secured pump fastener system

An adhesively secured fastener for use with a wide variety of substrates which provides a safer and more effective method of storing, transporting, delivering and using a quick setting adhesive while protecting against contact of the adhesive contained therein with the user of the fastener.

A resilient fastener or adapter and method is provided for attaching a flanged molding member, or the like, to a panel to substantially cover a gap between the panel and a spaced structural member. The fastener or adapter is flexurally insertable in the space between the panel surface and the structured member and is retained therebetween in the flexed state. A resilient tab extends adjacent a surface of the panel to receive a flange of the molding in interference engagement therewith and retain the molding in place. The fastener or adapter is advantageously employed in the manufacture of an automobile to retain a decorative molding in the space formed between a windshield or backlight and the body panel to which the windshield or backlight is assembled.

Molding clip and method of assembly

A transversely resilient one-piece sheet metal clip, generally U-shaped is formed for detachable push-on mounting and suspension from one inner side of an elongated channel member such as a molding which is to longitudinal receive and anchor therein a workpiece or pieces. For instance, the channel may be a roof drip molding for an automobile and required, by means of a plurality of these clip structures, when suitably spaced, to retain therein the edges of sheet metal and/or other sheet lining material such as vinyl or the like. The clip has its longer leg transversely bowed and formed with at least one barb or tang portion and one suspension portion cooperative to grip the molding side on opposite faces thereof, the shorter leg of the clip being formed with at least one tang projecting for gripping engagement with the lining material or body sheet metal commonly known as the pinch weld.

Retainer clips

A device is provided for resiliently retaining an end portion of a decorative trim molding onto an automobile body panel wherein the molding is aligned with a similar molding on a bumper member, the bumper member being mounted for movement relative to the automobile body, on impact. The device allows the end portion of the molding member to move outwardly from the body a distance to allow the aligned molding on the bumper to move past it, thereby preventing buckling of the body panel molding. The device is effective to return the molding to the aligned position on the body after a plurality of such impacts.

Molding retainer

A generally U or V-shaped resilient clip has legs formed with externally projecting barbs intermediate their bowed length, and internally projecting barbs nearer yieldable ends of the legs. The junction of the leg portions is first freely and partly receivable in an aperture formed in one of two parts to be secured by the clip, the other part having a central rib and oppositely spaced recesses for enclosing the clip ends. The arrangement is such that pressing the two parts together fully seats the clip in the aperture, contact or gripping pressure of the external barbs with the wall of the aperture forcing the internal barbs to 'bite' into opposite sides of the rib to hold the parts assembled.

Elastomeric bumper securing press fit clip

A one-piece clip is provided for attaching a trim strip molding and an underlying elongated flat strip of flexible material having a beaded edge onto a panel having a button headed stud protruding therefrom. The clip and beaded strip are attached to the stud and the trim strip attached to the clip. The clip comprises means for orienting the flexible strip relative to the stud, and the trim strip relative to the stud whereby the assembled trim strip and flexible strip are retained onto the panel in desired alignment.

Retainer clip

A visor blade of molded, collapsible truss formation is provided which features both safety and reliable position-holding capability. The latter is attained by a clip blanked from sheet metal and of a configuration to be anchored in a hinge portion of the visor, and tensionally grip a mounting rod to uniformly resist turning of the visor from any selected angular position about the rod.

A molding assembly including a resilient pad affixed to a support, and a hollow molding device overlying the pad, with a fastener interconnecting the molding device to the pad, and wherein the resilient pad is provided with a longitudinal slit, and the fastener has a body portion interfitting within the molding and an integral tongue-like extension projecting into the slit in the pad, the slit being expanded by the entrance of the extension and both having cooperating surfaces extending laterally with respect to the plane of the slit for interlocking engagement with one another to retain the fastener to the pad.

Trim molding assembly

An adapter clip is provided for retaining a molding member adjacent a panel having an upstanding headed stud mounted thereon. The adapter has an inclined ramp with an opening therein for receiving the headed stud and the opening is formed by a linear guide surface for unidirectional movement of the adapter onto the stud. A cantilevered arm is torsionally flexed during application of the adapter to the stud, after which the arm returns to a position retaining the adapter on the stud.
