A charging device, comprising a first power converter configured to provide a first output current, a second power converter configured to provide a second output current, a switch coupled to an output of the first power converter and an output of the second power converter, a first socket coupled to the output of the first power converter, a second socket coupled to the output of the second power converter, and a power delivery (PD) controller configured to control a turn ON of the switch in response to a coupling of the first socket to a first powered device and an absence of coupling of the second socket to a second powered device.

Current sharing for multi-output charging device

A charging device comprising a first power converter configured to provide a first output power, a second power converter configured to provide a second output power. A switch is coupled to the first power converter and the second power converter. A first socket is configured to deliver the first output power from the first power converter to a first powered device. A second socket is configured to deliver the second output power from the second power converter to a second powered device. A power delivery (PD) controller configured to detect a coupling of the first socket to the first powered device. In addition, the PD controller is configured to detect an absence of coupling of the second socket to the second powered device. Furthermore, the PD controller is configured to control the switch to provide the first output power and the second output power to the first powered device.

Power is supplied on a circuit board assembly by attaching a drum core inductor to a circuit board. The drum core inductor has a first winding wound around the drum core inductor. The first winding has first and second ends coupled to the drum core inductor. A bobbin is attached to the circuit board. The bobbin has a second winding wound around the bobbin. The second winding has first and second ends coupled to the bobbin. The drum core inductor and the bobbin are attached to the circuit board. The drum core inductor is inside an opening of the bobbin. The drum core inductor and the bobbin are detached from each other. A power switch coupled to the first winding is switched to control a transfer of energy from an input power source through the first and second windings to a load coupled to the second winding.

Method of supplying power on a circuit board assembly

A switching power converter () comprises a transformer () with a parasitic capacitance (), a first switch () coupled to the transformer () and configured to couple or decouple a load () to or from a power source via the transformer (), a switch controller () coupled to the first switch () and configured to generate a switch drive signal () for turning on or off the first switch () according to switching cycles, and a bypass circuit configured to provide a bypass path for the parasitic elements such as the parasitic capacitance (). The bypass circuit may be coupled in parallel with the auxiliary winding (), the primary winding (), or the secondary winding () of the transformer (). High frequency ringing and EMI/RFI is reduced when the bypass circuit is enabled.

Switching power converter for reducing EMI from ring oscillation and its control method

A transformer assembly is disclosed. An example circuit board assembly includes a circuit board. A drum core inductor is also included and has a drum core, a first winding, and first and second terminals extending from a first end of the drum core inductor. A wire of the first winding is wound around an axis of the drum core. The first winding has first and second ends coupled to the first and second terminals of the drum core inductor, respectively. A bobbin has first and second terminals extending from a first end of the bobbin. A wire of a second winding is wound around an axis of the bobbin. The second winding has first and second ends coupled to the first and second terminals of the bobbin, respectively. The first ends of the drum core inductor and the bobbin are attached to a circuit board such that the drum core inductor is positioned on the circuit board inside an opening of the bobbin defined along the axis of the bobbin. The drum core inductor and the bobbin are detached from one another.

Low-cost transformer assembly

An LED lamp is provided in which the output light intensity of the LEDs in the LED lamp is adjusted based on the input voltage to the LED lamp. The LED lamp comprises one or more LEDs, and an LED driver configured to receive an input voltage and provide regulated current to said one or more LEDs, where the LED driver is configured to adjust the regulated current to said one or more LEDs according to the input voltage to adjust the output light intensity of said one or more LEDs. The LED lamp can be a direct replacement of conventional incandescent lamps in typical wiring configurations found in residential and commercial building lighting applications that use conventional dimmer switches that carry out dimming by changing the input voltage to the LED lamp.

LED lamp

An improved electrical power converter is disclosed. The electrical power converter utilizes a pulse width modulator responsive to the voltage across a tertiary winding of the power transformer. The electrical power converter includes a feedback control circuit for providing a regulating voltage to the pulse width modulator that is substantially proportional to the voltage across the tertiary winding with the voltage spikes caused by any leakage inductance in said power transformer removed. The feedback control circuit includes a spike compensator circuit that utilizes leakage inductance produced voltage spikes to compensate for output voltage degradation due to heavy loads.
