A flexible energy storage device with a glycerol-based gel electrolyte is provided. The flexible energy storage device can include a pair of electrodes separated by the gel electrolyte. The electrolytes can be in gel form, bendable and stretchable in a device. The gel electrolyte can include glycerol, redox-active molybdenum-containing ions, and a secondary ionic substance. The secondary ionic substance can include a salt. The gel electrolyte can have a density of 1.4 to 1.9 g/cmand an ionic conductivity of 2.3×10to 3.2×10Scm. The flexible energy storage device may retain greater than 95% of an unbent energy storage capacity when bent at an angle of 10 to 170°.

Energy storage device for galvanostatic charge-discharge

A bio-electrochemical fuel cell is provided. The fuel cell includes an anode placed between a second endplate and a supporting plate, a cathode placed between a first endplate and the supporting plate, a separator plate provided between the first endplate and the cathode, a separator plate provided between the second endplate and the anode, and at least one separator plate provided on each side of the supporting plate. The anode has a first layer and a biofilm including photosynthetic microorganisms is present on a surface of the first layer. A central aperture of the first endplate receives a flow of water containing the photosynthetic microorganisms and a central aperture of the second endplate discharges the flow of water. Application of light to the fuel cell assembly causes the photosynthetic microorganisms to release oxygen at the anode and induces a photo-current in the anode.

A nanocomposite electrode including a substrate, a binding compound, a conductive additive, and NiO/FeVOnanoparticles. The NiO/FeVOnanoparticles have a substantially spherical shape. A mixture of the binding compound, the conductive additive and the NiO/FeVOnanoparticles, is at least partially coated on a first surface of the substrate. A method of making the NiO/FeVOnanoparticles is described.

A flexible energy storage device with a redox-active biopolymer organogel electrolyte is provided. The flexible energy storage device can include a pair of electrodes separated by the redox-active biopolymer organogel electrolyte. The redox-active biopolymer organogel electrolyte can include a biopolymer organogel, redox-active molybdenum-containing ions, and a secondary ionic substance. The flexible energy storage device may retain greater than 75% of an unbent specific capacitance when bent at an angle of 10° to 170°.

A hydrogel electrolyte for a supercapacitor includes sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (C), water, citric acid (CA); and an aqueous extract of. The sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (C) and the citric acid (CA) form a citric acid cross-linked cellulose-based polymer hydrogel (C-CA-C). An organic acid from the aqueous extract ofis intercalated to the citric acid cross-linked cellulose-based polymer hydrogel (C-CA-C) via hydrogen bonds. A method of preparation of the hydrogel electrolyte is also discussed.

Hydrogel electrolyte for a supercapacitor

Fe—Co core-shell nanospheres and a method for producing the Fe—Co core-shell nanospheres are disclosed. Further disclosed is a method of reducing an organic contaminant in a solution by mixing the Fe—Co core-shell nanospheres with the solution. The Fe—Co core-shell nanosphere includes a shell made of a material having a formula CoFeOand a hollow core. The Fe—Co core-shell nanospheres are produced by mixing cobalt nitrate and iron nitrate in a solvent mixture to form a first mixture and mixing urea with the first mixture to form a second mixture. The solvent mixture is removed from the second mixture to form a powder. The powder is ground to form the Fe—Co core-shell nanospheres.

Fe—Co core shell nanospheres

A supercapacitor including two electrodes, and a gel electrolyte. The gel electrolyte includes glycerol, benzoquinone, phosphoric acid, and boric acid. The gel electrolyte is non-aqueous. The glycerol, phosphoric acid, and boric acid form a hydrogen bonding network. The benzoquinone is homogeneously dispersed within the hydrogen bonding network. The supercapacitor is included in wearable devices or power banks.

Zinc chromium vanadate spinel oxide (ZCVO) nanostructure-based electrocatalyst for energy generation and storage

Gel polymer electrolytes comprising molybdate(VI) salts dispersed in a hydrogel matrix. The hydrogel matrix contains reacted units of an acrylamide (e.g. 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) and optionally an additional monomer. A supercapacitor including the gel polymer electrolyte and electrodes arranged between the electrolyte is also specified. This supercapacitor is evaluated on its specific capacitance, energy density, power density, resistance, as well as cycling stability.

Gel polymer electrolyte supercapacitor

A nanocomposite electrode and a supercapacitor device including said nanocomposite electrode. The nanocomposite electrode includes a mixture of at least one binding compound, at least one conductive additive, and at least one molybdenum doped carbon material coated onto a substrate. The supercapacitor device includes two nanocomposite electrodes disposed facing one another, wherein the substrate of each nanocomposite electrode is coated with the mixture on an inside facing surface and the outer surfaces of the nanocomposite electrodes are not coated with the mixture, and the inside facing surfaces are separated by at least one electrolyte.

Gel electrolyte supercapacitor

A poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA)-(NH)MoO), gel polymer electrolyte can be prepared by incorporating redox-mediated Mo, or similar metal, into a PVPA, or similar polymer, matrix. Gel polymer electrolytes including PVPA/MoX, x representing the percent fraction Mo in PVPA, can be used to make supercapacitors including active carbon electrodes. The electrolytes can be in gel form, bendable and stretchable in a device. Devices including this gel electrolyte can have a specific capacitance (Cs) of 1276 F/g, i.e., a more than 50-fold increase relative to a PVPA system without Mo. A PVPA/Mo10 supercapacitor can have an energy density of 180.2 Wh/kg at power density of 500 W/kg, and devices with this hydrogel structure may maintain 85+% of their initial capacitance performance after 2300 charge-discharge cycles.

Charge-discharge method for cycling a polymer-reinforced capacitor

A nanocomposite electrode and a method of making the nanocomposite. The nanocomposite electrode includes an electrode substrate, nitrogen-doped molybdenum carbide nanosheets, at least one electrolyte, at least one binding compound, and at least one conductive additive. The electrode substrate is coated with a mixture of the nitrogen-doped molybdenum carbide nanosheets, at least one binding compound, at least one conductive additive, and at least one electrolyte, where the electrolyte penetrates the pores of the nitrogen-doped molybdenum carbide nanosheets, and where the nitrogen-doped molybdenum carbide nanosheets are an outer layer of the electrode.

Method for incorporating molybdenum carbide nanoshoots into nanocomposite electrode

A nanocomposite electrode and supercapacitor thereof are disclosed. The nanocomposite electrode includes a substrate, at least one binding compound, at least one carbonaceous compound, and vanadium doped spinel ferrite nanoparticles (V-SFNPs). The V-SFNPs have a formula of CoNiVFeO, wherein x=0.1-0.9, y=0.01-0.10, and z=3-5. The substrate is at least partially coated on a first side with a mixture comprising the V-SFNPs, the at least one binding compound, and the at least one carbonaceous compound. Two of the nanocomposite electrodes are combined to form the supercapacitor.
