The invention pertains to a device for controlling the opening and closing of an internal combustion engine valve. This device is characterized in that the magnetic circuit of the electromagnet and/or the plate contains a magnetic material having a remnant magnetization (Fp) when the valve is in position, the remnant magnetization (Fp) being reversible so as to be cancelled when the valve changes position and having a coercive field strength in the range of 10 Oe to 600 Oe.

The present invention pertains to a valve actuating device for an internal combustion engine, comprising a magnetic blade controlling the position of the valve and cooperating for this purpose with at least one magnetic circuit comprising at least one magnet for attracting the blade alternately toward a first end position in which the valve is in the closed position and a second end position in which the valve is in the open position. A coil with springs controls the displacement of the blade from one end to the other. The magnetic circuit includes two non-coplanar parts, each of which is approximately C-shaped. A first coil surrounds the main branch of the first part and a second coil surrounds the main branch of the second part. At least one magnet connects the lateral faces opposite the two parts. The corresponding ends of the open branches are approximately coplanar.

Electromagnetic valve actuating device for an internal combustion engine

An electromechanical valve actuator for internal combustion engines, equipped with a polarized electromagnet and with a magnetic plate switches between a first position close to the electromagnet and a second position remote from the electromagnet, the switching times between these positions being determined depending on the operating state of the engine. The actuator supplies the electromagnet with a variable attracting current in the course of the approach of the plate to the electromagnet.

The present invention pertains to an electromechanical actuator controlling a valve of an internal combustion engine by means of a first magnetic field, generated in a variable manner by an electromagnet, and a second magnetic field, generated by at least one magnet associated with the electromagnet. An electromechanical valve actuator for internal combustion engines is equipped with a polarized electromagnet exerting a magnetic action on a magnetic plate that is subject to a mechanical restoring action, which action can compensate for the mechanical action and maintain the plate in a distant position from the electromagnet. The actuator ensures that the displacements of the plate are controlled solely by this electromagnet and the mechanical restoring action such that the plate performs shuttle movements beginning from the distant position.

The invention relates to a valve operating apparatus comprising a ferromagnetic device connected to the valve and displaceable on a course by which at one end the valve is in the closed position and at another end it is in the open position. The displacement command is performed by means of a first and a second electromagnet and of springs so that the device will be near to the first electromagnet for the closed position and near to the second electromagnet for the open position. Each electromagnet comprises a permanent magnet holding the device at the corresponding end of its course in the absence of current in the winding of the electromagnet. To change the valve from its open position to its closing position or vice versa, a defluxing pulse is applied to the winding of the second or of the first electromagnet opposing the effect of the permanent magnet, the change being carried out, after this pulse, by the sole action of the spring means.

A valve actuator for internal combustion engines, includes at least one electromagnet and a magnetic plate, whose movement controls the displacement of the valve. The parameters of the electromagnet and of the plate are such that at least part of the magnetic circuit formed by the electromagnet and the magnetic plate is in a state of magnetic saturation when the magnetic plate is located in the proximity of the electromagnet. The magnetic circuit is preferably in the state of magnetic nonsaturation when it is located at a distance from the electromagnet. According to one embodiment, the magnetic plate has at least one contracted part intended to be saturated when this plate is located in the proximity of the electromagnet.

An electromechanical valve control actuator for internal combustion engines, includes an electromagnet with a magnet and a mobile magnetic plate moving into the vicinity of the electromagnet. The magnet is located on a surface of the electromagnet opposite the plate. The actuator includes an E-shaped magnetic circuit, and the magnet is located at the end of a branch of this E-shaped circuit.

The invention concerns a valve operating device for an internal combustion engine, comprising a means connected to the valve and able to be displaced on a course by which, at one end of this course, the valve is in the closed position and at the other end of the course this valve is in the open position. The displacement command is performed by means of a first and a second electromagnet and spring means such that the means is near to a first electromagnet for the closed position of the valve and near to the second electromagnet for the open position of the valve. The first electromagnet is of the polarized type with a permanent magnet permitting the means to be held in the position corresponding to the closed position of the valve in the absence of current in the winding of this first electromagnet. The second electromagnet is such that this position is maintained for a non-zero current in the winding of this second electromagnet.
