A method for storing a plurality of still images to form a panoramic image. The method comprising the steps of receiving a first image forming a part of a series of images to form a panoramic image and storing the first image in memory. When one or more subsequent images after the first image are received the steps of calculating one or more panoramic parameters between a current image and a previous image stored in memory and storing the current image with the one or more panoramic parameters in memory are performed.

Still picture format for subsequent picture stitching for forming a panoramic image

A device for creating a panoramic image from a plurality of images taken by a digital camera. The device comprising: an input for receiving a current image which is updated in real time when a digital image capture mechanism coupled to the input is repositioned. The device further includes a preview generator for warping or mathematically adjusting perspective of a portion of a stored previous image so as to generate an overlap portion for optimal alignment by a user of the overlap portion to the current image therewith. The warped overlap portion of the stored previous image along with the current image is presented to a viewfinder. In an alternate embodiment, a method and computer readable medium corresponding to the above system is described.

Perspective correction for preview area of panoramic digital camera

A method in a digital camera for image capturing at least two perspective images at a constant focal length from the digital camera, where both images share a common edge portion. The method including: recording a first image from a first perspective; displaying a preview of a second image from a second perspective; simultaneously with displaying the preview, presenting an overlapping edge region of the first image to allow alignment of the first image with the preview of the second image; and correcting the perspective of at least one image in an overlapping edge region. In an alternate embodiment, a digital camera and computer readable medium corresponding to the above method is described.

Perspective correction device for panoramic digital camera

A method in digital stereo camera for creating anaglyphs of a given subject with a pre-set stereoscopic distance (S ). The camera has a pre-set distance (D) between and an scene plane and a lens plane defined by pair of first and second lenses aligned along a plane. The camera includes a pre-set distance (p) between the lens plane and an image plane. The pair of lenses is coupled to a pair of imagers. The method comprising the steps of: producing a pair of stereo images each having three color channels; cropping each of the pair of images by an amount (b), where b&equals;S *(p/D); and combining one color channel from one of the pair of stereo images with two color channels from a second of the pair of stereo images, so that the resulting image comprises three orthogonal color channels. In another embodiment, a digital stereoscopic camera and a computer readable medium for carrying out the above method is described.

Method and system for creating anaglyphs

A method for estimating the motion between a first image and a second image in a system for creating a panoramic image from a plurality of images taken by a camera, the method comprising the steps of: downsampling a first image in a first direction and in a second direction; downsampling a second image in a first direction and in a second direction; filtering the first and the second image so as to filter out any global illumination changes between the first image and the second image; calculating a first displacement along the first direction between the first downsampled image along the first direction and the second downsampled image along the first direction; and calculating a second displacement along the second direction between the first downsampled image along the second direction and the second downsampled image along the second direction. In an alternate embodiment, a device and computer readable medium corresponding to the above method is described.

Motion estimation for panoramic digital camera

A system for play-back of a still image comprising an image generator for generating a panoramic image by stitching together a plurality of images; memory space allocated for storing the panaoramic image generated by the image generator; and motion playback device (MPB) coupled to the memory space by address and data lines. The MPB comprises an input for receiving parameters for generating addresses to read the image for simulating the panning motion is a video camera scanning the image represented by the panoramic image along at least a first direction. Motion play-back of still pictures comprising a panoramic view for simulating perspective

A method for converting a rectilinear image and a focal length into a cylindrical image parameterized by a height of the cylinder and an angular distance in a single buffer on a remote processing device. The method, on the remote processing device, comprising joining two or more images together to form a panoramic image with corrected perspective. The rectilinear transformation is &ldquo;in-place&rdquo; and requires only one buffer. Color correction and motion estimation is also carried out on the remote device. In an alternate embodiment, a computer readable medium corresponding to the above method is described.
