The invention relates to a method for the provision of gas under pressure, by vaporisation of a cryogenic liquid from at least two cryogenic separation devices (A, B, C, D). Each device comprises a heat exchanger () and a system of columns (). In a first mode of operation, a cryogenic liquid is withdrawn from the columns in each cryogenic separation device, at least a part of which is pressurised () to give a pressurised cryogenic liquid () and at least a part of the cryogenic liquid under pressure is vaporised in the heat exchanger () to give a part of gas under pressure (). A cryogenic liquid is sent () from the cryogenic separation device to a common store () and at least one liquid (A,B,C,D) coming from the store is vaporised in the exchange line () in at least one of the cryogenic separation devices.

Method and installation for the provision of gas under pressure

A process and an apparatus for separating air by cryogenic distillation. The apparatus has a medium pressure column thermally coupled to a low pressure column. Compressed and purified air is cooled to cryogenic temperature in an exchanger, and sent at least partly to the medium pressure column. Streams enriched in oxygen and nitrogen are sent from the medium pressure column to the low pressure column and, streams enriched in nitrogen and oxygen are removed from the low pressure.

Process for separating air by cryogenic distillation and installation for implementing this process

A method and apparatus for separating air by cryogenic distillation. The energy of an air separation installation is increased by reducing the size of the exchangers, and therefore increasing the head losses and the temperature differences in the exchange line, and increasing the temperature difference at the main vaporizer. The size of the distillation column is reduced by minimizing the number of theoretical trays and the number of sections of packing or trays. The size of the refrigerating turbine is also reduced by increasing its intake temperature in order to reduce the output.

Method for separating air by cryogenic distillation and installation therefor

An apparatus and method for air distillation. Two cold boxes and an air treatment unit are used to distill air. The cold boxes contain a heat exchanger for cooling the air to be distilled and an air distillation unit for producing either oxygen, nitrogen or argon. The air treatment unit has many individual treatment elements which are connected in parallel. The outlet of the air treatment unit is connected to both cold boxes and to all the individual treatment units.

In a process for supplying unit (9) that consumes a gas at several pressures, the gas is produced at the highest pressure and is sent to the unit. When the consumption of the unit falls, at least one portion of the high pressure gas is stored in an accumulator (5).

Process for supplying a consumption unit with gas at several pressures

Air is supplied to an air separation apparatus via a heat exchanger in which the entering air is cooled against an air gas separated in the separation apparatus. The air is first compressed in an adiabatic compressor. The air gas separated in the separation apparatus is humidified after it leaves the separation apparatus but before it reaches the heat exchanger.

Process and installation for the supply of an apparatus for separating

A gas-consuming unit (HF) is fed partially by a flow delivered directly by a compression unit (21) and partially by one delivered by a separation apparatus (25) which is itself fed by a flow delivered directly by the compression unit. Another flow produced by the separation apparatus, but at lower pressure, is returned to a compression unit before being sent to the consumer unit.

Process for feeding a gas-consuming unit

A blast furnace (1) is supplied with a flow of optionally oxygen-enriched air coming from an isothermal compressor (3) or a (radial) centrifugal compressor (11).
