Methods related to startup of an electric submersible pump

A method for monitoring operation of an electric submersible pump. The method includes receiving data signals indicating values for a plurality of parameters regarding operation of the electric submersible pumping system; establishing, for at least some of the plurality of parameters, an associated reference signal; and detecting a deviation of one of the parameters from the reference signal associated with that parameter. As a result of the deviation having a rate of change below a predetermined threshold, the method includes updating the value of the reference signal to reflect the deviation. As a result of the deviation having a rate of change above the predetermined threshold, the method includes detecting an event and generating an indication of the event. The indication of the event further depends on a type of the parameter and a direction of the deviation from the reference signal.

Electric submersible pump event detection

A system includes a reception interface that receives sensor data of an artificial lift system disposed at least in part in a well; an analysis engine that, based at least in part on a portion of the sensor data, outputs values of state variables of the artificial lift system; and a transmitter interface that transmits information, based at least in part on a portion of the values of state variables, to a surface controller operatively coupled to the artificial lift system.

The method includes acquiring a baseline signature for the electric submersible pump in a first environment, acquiring a downhole signature for the electric submersible pump in a downhole environment while the electric submersible pump is confirmed to be healthy, applying an operator to the baseline signature and the downhole signature that results in a downhole noise component, acquiring a vibration signature for the electric submersible pump in the downhole environment while the electric submersible pump is in an operating mode, removing the downhole noise component from the vibration signature to produce an isolated electric submersible pump signature, and determining a health status of the electric submersible pump based on the isolated electric submersible pump signature.

Monitoring an electric submersible pump for failures

Various implementations described herein are directed to a method of acquiring seismic data. The method may include towing an array of marine seismic streamers coupled to a vessel. The array comprises a plurality of lead-in cables and streamers, and the plurality of lead-in cables comprises an innermost lead-in cable and an outermost lead-in cable with respect to a center line of the vessel. The method may also include towing a plurality of source cables and one or more seismic sources such that the one or more seismic sources are positioned between the innermost lead-in cable and the outermost lead-in cable.

A method for monitoring an electric submersible pump. The method includes acquiring a baseline signature for the electric submersible pump in a first environment, acquiring a downhole signature for the electric submersible pump in a downhole environment while the electric submersible pump is confirmed to be healthy, applying an operator to the baseline signature and the downhole signature that results in a downhole noise component, acquiring a vibration signature for the electric submersible pump in the downhole environment while the electric submersible pump is in an operating mode, removing the downhole noise component from the vibration signature to produce an isolated electric submersible pump signature, and determining a health status of the electric submersible pump based on the isolated electric submersible pump signature.

A tool is described for seismic data collection which may have sensors mounted along its entire length to sample both geophysical signal and noise including at least one of acoustic noise, system noise, and noise resulting from the interaction between the two. Systems and methods for acquiring borehole seismic data are also described. In contrast to conventional systems which attempt to avoid introducing noise into the collected data stream, the present systems include a sufficient type, number, and spacing of sensors to intentionally sample at least one source of noise. The methods include operating a borehole seismic acquisition system to sample both a target signal and at least one source of noise and using a processor with machine-readable instructions for separating the noise from the signal.

Borehole seismic acquisition tools, systems and methods

A marine survey acquisition system. The system may include a vessel for towing a marine survey spread. The marine survey spread may include streamers, marine vibrators and a cable. The cable may be coupled to a respective streamer from among the streamers and one of the marine vibrators. The cable may power the respective streamer and the one of the marine vibrators. The one of the marine vibrators may emit energy at a high frequency range.

Various implementations described herein are directed to a method of performing a seismic survey operation. The method may include receiving a target acoustic output for a seismic survey. The method may include selecting an operating chamber liner for an airgun to be used in a seismic survey that corresponds to the target acoustic output. A marine vibrator has a housing that comprises a displacement member, the displacement member having a first position and a second position, the housing and the displacement member together defining an internal volume. A linear electromagnetic motor interacts with the displacement member so as to move the displacement member between a first position and a second position and correspondingly strokes the displacement member to cover a volume. The linear electromagnetic motor comprises magnets and coils that when energized create an electromagnetic force there between, wherein the linear electromagnetic motor comprises a piston and a guide that substantially surrounds the piston. The piston has incorporated therein either the coils or the magnets, and the guide having incorporated therein the other of the coils or the magnets. The piston is in interaction with the displacement member.
