A low-dropout regulator for low voltage applications includes a buffer circuit being arranged between an output terminal of an error amplifier and a control node of a pass device. The buffer circuit includes a driver having a first transistor being embodied as an NMOS transistor. The output terminal of the error amplifier is coupled to the control node of the first transistor. The control node of the pass device is coupled to an internal node of a first current path including the first transistor. The low-dropout regulator has high load capability, even if an input supply voltage is very low.

Low-dropout regulator for low voltage applications

In one embodiment an Inductive buck-boost-converter has an input (In) to which an input voltage (Vin) is supplied, an output (Out) at which an output voltage (Vout) is provided as a function of the input voltage (Vin), an inductor (L) having a first and a second terminal (Lx, Lx), a first switch (A) which switchably connects the inductor's (L) first terminal (Lx) to the input (In), a second switch (B) which switchably connects the inductor's (L) first terminal (Lx) to a ground potential terminal (), a third switch (C) which switchably connects the inductor's (L) second terminal (Lx) to the ground potential terminal (), a fourth switch (D) which switchably connects the inductor's (L) second terminal (Lx) to the output (Out), and a control unit (CTL) coupled to respective control inputs of first, second, third and fourth switches (A, B, C, D). Therein the converter is operated in three phases () by the control unit (CTL). In one of these three phases a transistor realizing the fourth switch (D) is driven in its saturation region by the control unit (CTL).

Inductive buck-boost-converter and method for driving an inductive buck-boost-converter

A voltage converter () comprises a converter input (), a coil () with a first and a second coil terminal ('), a first switch () arranged between the first coil terminal () and a reference potential terminal (), a second switch () arranged between the converter input () and the first coil terminal (), a converter output () coupled to the second coil terminal (&#x2032;) and a control unit (). The control unit () is configured to set the first switch () into a blocking state in a first phase (A) of an operating mode of the voltage converter () and into a diode mode in a second phase (B) of the operating mode of the voltage converter () and to set the second switch () into a conducting state in the first phase (A) and into a blocking state in the second phase (B).

Voltage converter and method for voltage conversion

A voltage transformer () comprises an inductor (), a first and a second switch (), and a control unit (). A first terminal () of the inductor is supplied an input voltage (VIN). The first switch () is disposed between a second terminal () of the inductor () and a reference potential terminal (). The second switch () is disposed between the second terminal () of the inductor () and an output () of the voltage transformer (). The control unit () is configured to set the first switch () in a first and a second phase (A, B) of a first operating mode of the voltage transformer () into a blocking operating state and to set the second switch () in the first phase (A) into a conducting operating state and in the second phase (B) into an operating state having different conductivity.

Voltage transformer and method for transforming voltage

A power supply arrangement () comprises a voltage regulator (), a driver circuit (), and a control circuit (). The voltage regulator () has a voltage regulator input () for the feeding of an input voltage (VIN), a voltage regulator output () to which an electrical load () is coupled that comprises a current source (), a feedback input (), and a comparator () that is coupled at a first input to the feedback input (). Power supply arrangement and method for the power supply of an electrical load

A DC/DC converter comprises an inductive element (L) having a first terminal connected to an input connection () and a second terminal () coupled to a reference potential connection () by a first switching element (N). A second switching element (P) being a p-channel field-effect transistor couples the second terminal () to an output connection (). A control unit (CTL) comprises a detection unit which is configured to detect a first mode of operation in which an input voltage (VIN) is higher than a desired output voltage (VOUT). The control unit is configured, upon detection of the first mode of operation, during a first phase (PH) to control the first switching element (N) to a closed state and a second switching element (P) to an open state, during a second phase (PH) which comprises a first sub-phase (PHA) and a second sub-phase (PHB), to control the first switching element (N) to an open state, during the first sub-phase (PHA), to control the second switching element (P) to a closed state, and, during the second sub-phase (PHB), to provide a control voltage to a gate terminal of the second switching element (P) which is higher than a difference between an output voltage (VOUT) and a threshold voltage of the second switching element (P).
