A method for recording a transaction using a Dynamic User Interface (DUI) within an application, including receiving, from a user of the application, the transaction relating to a customer of the user; receiving a request to generate a form for the transaction; generating, based on the request to generate the form, the form containing a customer list and a form element; receiving a request to generate the DUI; generating, based on the request to generate the DUI, the DUI adjacent to the form displayed within the application; receiving an identification of the customer from the customer list; populating, based on the identification of the customer, the DUI with the transaction relating to the customer; receiving, from the user, a selection of the transaction from the DUI; populating, within the form adjacent to the DUI, the form element using the transaction; and recording, within the application, the transaction.

Method and system for recording a transaction using a dynamic user interface within an application

A system, method and graphical user interface for focusing a view of displayed data upon a subset of the data. In a view of multiple values, fields, objects or other data, a subset of the data is selected because it has changed, because it is associated with a recommended action, because it warrants a user's attention, or for some other reason. The remaining data is then masked or covered with a semi-transparent layer that suppresses the data and obscures any highlighting, emphasis or other complexity among the covered data. The user's attention is thus focused upon the selected subset of data without increasing the cognitive load forced on the user.

System and method for focusing a view of data on a selected subset

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that automatically acquires data from an application and imports the data into a second application. During operation, the system receives at a data-acquisition tool a command from a user to acquire data from the application. In response to the command, the system overlays a semi-transparent layer over at least a portion of a display which is generated by the application, so that the data within the display is still visible to the user. Next, the system receives a drawing command from the user to draw a shape around an item of data within the display. In response to the drawing command, the system draws a shape around the item of data within the display, wherein the shape is drawn on the semi-transparent layer. The system then acquires the item of data bounded by the shape.

Method and apparatus for importing data from an application into a second application

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates acquiring data, which is presented within a web browser, for an application. During operation, the system receives a command from a user to acquire data from the web browser for the application. In response to the command, the system overlays a semi-transparent layer over at least a portion of the web browser, so that the data within the web browser is still visible to the user. The system also receives a drawing command, from the user, to draw a shape around an item of data within the web browser. In response to the drawing command, the system draws a shape around the item of data within the web browser, wherein the shape is drawn on the semi-transparent layer. Finally, the system acquires the item of data bounded by the shape for the application.
