Logic may enable client devices or access points to relay medium access control (MAC) frames through a Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Direct network such as a network of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connections to extend the wireless range of the devices or access points beyond the transmission range of the individual devices or access points. Logic may extend the range of IEEE 802.11 devices, such as IEEE 802.11ah devices, by allowing a station in the middle of two stations to serve as a relay station using the Wi-Fi Direct technology. Logic may enable relaying to avoid a full mesh technology such as is defined in IEEE 802.11s, since the full mesh technology may contain too many features that are not required for a simple or a static network configuration of such embodiments.

Provided herein are apparatus and methods for signaling regulatory information and transmit power information for device-to-device communication. An apparatus for a Wi-Fi device comprising: a RF interface; and processor circuitry coupled with the RF interface. The processor circuitry is to: decode a first discovery frame received from a peer Wi-Fi device via the RF interface to obtain a first Operation Information attribute of the peer Wi-Fi device, wherein the first Operation Information attribute is to indicate a first operation mode of the peer Wi-Fi device; and encode, in response to the first discovery frame, a second discovery frame for transmission to the peer Wi-Fi device via the RF interface, wherein the second discovery frame includes a second Operation Information attribute of the Wi-Fi device to indicate a second operation mode of the Wi-Fi device. Apparatus that operates with a neighbor awareness networking (NAN) protocol, method for signaling operation information and transmit power information for device-to-device communication

Provided herein are apparatus and methods for Wi-Fi network profile verification. An apparatus for a wireless communication device includes: a memory; and processor circuitry coupled with the memory, wherein the processor circuitry is to: encode a verification sequence in a probe request for transmission to an AP; decode, in response to the probe request, a probe response received from the AP to obtain a first verification result; determine a second verification result based on the verification sequence and a verification password (VP) obtained from the AP; and determine whether a verification for the AP is successful or not based on the first verification result and the second verification result, and wherein the memory is to store the VP. Other embodiments may also be disclosed and claimed.

Apparatus and method for Wi-Fi network profile verification

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to operating channel validation. A device may associate with an access point (AP). The device may establish a first operating channel to communicate with the AP. The device may identify a protected beacon frame received from the AP, wherein the protected beacon frame comprises an indication of a second operating channel. The device may extract the second operating channel from the protected beacon frame. The device may determine an association status with the AP based on the first operating channel and the second operating channel.

This disclosure describes methods, apparatus, and systems related to enhanced Bluetooth triggering of device Wi-Fi radios. A device may determine a first Bluetooth data packet including transport data and an indication of a Wi-Fi service discovery, the transport data including a first sub-field and a second sub-field, the first sub-field indicating a length of the second sub-field, and the second sub-field indicating one or more Wi-Fi services supported by the device. A Bluetooth radio of the device may send the first Bluetooth data packet including an indication of a Wi-Fi service. The device may identify a second Bluetooth data packet received by the Bluetooth radio from a second device, the second Bluetooth data packet indicating that the Wi-Fi service is supported by the second device. The device may use a Wi-Fi radio to send one or more Wi-Fi frames associated with the Wi-Fi service to the second device.

A device may determine a beacon management element of a beacon frame body and may determine an integrity group key identifier of the beacon management element, wherein the integrity group key identifier is associated with a basic service set (BSS). Embodiments provide a new short beacon frame format and its operation with full beacon frame transmissions for wireless communications devices. Many embodiments comprise a medium access control (MAC) sublayer logic to build frames comprising the short beacon frame for a first communications device. In some embodiments, the MAC sublayer may determine a frame control field comprising a type field indicative of an extension frame and a subtype indicative of a short beacon. In further embodiments, the frame control field may comprise a service set identifier (SSID) control field, and a reserved field. Some embodiments may store the short beacon frame or frame format in memory, in logic, or in another manner that facilitates transmission of the short beacon frames. Some embodiments may receive and detect communications with the short beacon frames. Further embodiments may generate and transmit a communication with the short beacon frames.

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to neighbor awareness networking (NAN) operations in the 6 GHz frequency band. A NAN device may generate a first NAN frame including a first indication of a NAN operation capability, and a second indication of a transmit power of the NAN device. The NAN device may send the first NAN frame and may identify a second NAN frame received from a second NAN device, the second NAN frame including a third indication of the NAN operation capability, and a fourth indication of a transmit power of the second NAN device. The NAN device may determine, based on the transmit power of the NAN device and the transmit power of the second NAN device, an operation parameter for the 6 GHz frequency band. The NAN device may establish, based on the operation parameter, a NAN connection using the 6 GHz frequency band.
