In some implementations, a mobile device can generate graphical user interfaces (GUIs) on behalf of third-party applications for presentation by vehicle infotainment systems. The mobile device can obtain configuration information for the vehicle system. The mobile device (e.g., operating system) can be configured with various GUI templates that define the layout of various user input controls. The third-party application can provide a template identifier and map data to the operating system. The mobile device can generate a GUI for the third-party application specifically for display by the vehicle system based on the identified template, the map data, and the configuration information for the vehicle system. The mobile device can then send the generated GUI to the vehicle system and the vehicle system can present the GUI on a display of the vehicle system.

Generating navigation user interfaces for third-party applications

A device receives an instruction to authorize a relationship corresponding to communication over a first data connection with a peripheral display unit, and receives authentication data from the peripheral display unit over another data connection. The device then establishes a connection with the peripheral display unit over the first data connection, including providing the authentication information to the peripheral display unit. Device, method, and graphical user interface for establishing a relationship and connection between two devices

A device displays a first user interface on a first display, including a plurality of objects and corresponding to a second user interface on a second display. While a first object is displayed as a selected object in the second user interface, the device: detects a first input requesting information about a second object; and in response to detecting the first input, displays information about the second object in the first user interface and maintains display of the first object as the selected object in the second user interface. After displaying the information, the device detects a second input selecting the second object. A portable computing device can be used to locate a vehicle in a parking structure. In particular, the portable computing device can communicate with a parking system that manages the parking structure and/or with a vehicle in order to locate the vehicle. Communications between the portable computing device, parking system and vehicle can be based on one or more wireless connections, such as Bluetooth and/or Bluetooth LE connections.

The method includes automatically, without user input and without regard to whether a digital assistant application has been separately invoked by a user, determining that the electronic device is in a vehicle. In some implementations, determining that the electronic device is in a vehicle comprises detecting that the electronic device is in communication with the vehicle (e.g., via a wired or wireless communication techniques and/or protocols). The method also includes, responsive to the determining, invoking a listening mode of a virtual assistant implemented by the electronic device. Automatically adapting user interfaces for hands-free interaction

In accordance with some embodiments, a method is performed at a device with one or more processors, non-transitory memory, and a display. The method includes, while the device is in communication with an alert system integrated into a vehicle that is operating with at least a respective degree of autonomous control, displaying, on the display, a user interface that is unrelated to operating the vehicle. The device is a handheld device that is separate from the vehicle. The method includes, while displaying the user interface on the display, receiving, from the alert system integrated into the vehicle, an alert indication that a driver's attention is needed for operating the vehicle. The method includes, in response to receiving the alert indication, disabling at least a portion of the displayed user interface and displaying, on the display, a visual indication that the driver's attention is needed for operating the vehicle.

Device, method, and graphical user interface for presenting vehicular notifications

Systems and methods for providing hands-free reading of content comprising: identifying a plurality of data items for presentation to a user, the plurality of data items associated with a domain-specific item type and sorted according to a particular order; based on the domain-specific item type, generating a speech-based overview of the plurality of data items; for each of the plurality of data items, generating a respective speech-based, item-specific paraphrase for the data item based on respective content of the data item; and providing, to a user through the speech-enabled dialogue interface, the speech-based overview, followed by the respective speech-based, item-specific paraphrases for at least a subset of the plurality of data items in the particular order.
