A fold-down handle for luggage, briefcases, and the like comprises a pair of bracket members adapted to be attached in spaced-apart relation to an article to be carried and a handgrip member extending between and pivotally attached to the bracket members such as to pivot about a pivot axis. The handgrip member and each of the bracket members have abutting end surfaces lying in a plane perpendicular to the pivot axis and peripheral wall surfaces on portions immediately adjacent the end surfaces that are of elliptical cross section about common center axes oblique to the pivot axis. The elliptical peripheral wall surfaces of the end portions intersect the respective end surfaces along circular edges, the centers of which are coincident with the pivot axis. Accordingly, the edges formed at the intersections of the peripheral wall surfaces and end surfaces of the handle member and the respective bracket members coincide with each other in all pivotal positions of the handgrip member.

A soft foldable consumer electronic product comprises an envelope having a top member and a bottom member, each member being of soft flexible sheet material, a first unit of the electronic product received within a first portion of the envelope and affixed to one of the members thereof, a second unit of the electronic product received in a second portion of the envelope and affixed to one of the members thereof, and at least one conductor within the envelope extending from the first to the second portion and connecting the first and second units to electrically connect them for operation of the product. The envelope is foldable such that the positions of the first and second portions relative to each other can be changed selectively.

A carrying bag comprises at least one extensible panel forming at least a part of the external walls of the bag. The extensible panel is of a composite material composed of a sheet of a stretch-knit fabric and a multiplicity of elongated strips of a durable, substantially non-extensible material joined to the fabric sheet in closely spaced relation by stitching located proximate to the centers of the strips, thereby leaving portions of the fabric sheet underlying the major portions of the strips free to stretch.

A chair seat mounting mechanism includes a stationary base member adapted to be mounted on a chair base, a seat-mounting member that is adapted to be attached to a chair seat and is rotatably attached to the base member by a pivot shaft and springs acting between the base member and the seat-mounting member and biasing the seat to a neutral position intermediate of a forward tilted position and a rearward tilted position. An intermediate member is pivotally attached to the pivot shaft, and at least one first spring is engaged between the intermediate member and the seat-mounting member such as to bias the seat-mounting member relative to the intermediate member toward the neutral position and to permit the seat to tilt forward against the bias. At least one second spring is engaged between the base member and the intermediate member such as to bias the intermediate member relative to the base member toward the neutral position and to permit the seat to tilt rearward against the bias. The pivot shaft is spaced apart a substantial distance from the center of the chair seat in the direction of the front edge of the seat bottom so as to limit the amount of vertical motion of the front edge when the seat tilts forward and backward from the neutral position.

Adjustable seating comprises a frame having a seat-supporting portion and a back-supporting portion, a seat bottom mounted on the seat-supporting portion for movement between rearward and forward positions and a seat back mounted on the back-supporting portion by at least one resilient articulating linkage for tilting movement independently of the position of the seat bottom. The seat back is connected to the seat bottom by a flexible but non-extensible coupling member and is slidable up and down on an upper linkage member of the articulating mechanism so that when the seat bottom moves forwardly or backwardly, the seat back moves downwardly or upwardly, respectively, in correspondence with the movements of the seat bottom. A configuration control spring biases the seat back/bottom to an upward/rearward configuration.

A motor-driven toothbrush comprises a drive unit having a motor and a transmission that simultaneously drive a shaft in rotation and a brush head extension reciprocably in a direction parallel to the axis of the shaft. A brush unit includes a brush head coupled to the extension for lengthwise reciprocating motion on which several bristle holders, each carrying several bristle tufts, are mounted individually for pivotal movement about an axis spaced apart from and parallel to the drive shaft. A crank coupled to the drive shaft imparts pivotal movement to each bristle holder individually via a crank pin for each holder.
