Methods for treating a wellbore. An example method includes positioning a conduit in the wellbore. The conduit is a liner hanger or a tie-back liner. The conduit includes a conduit body and a reactive metal sealing element disposed on the conduit body. The reactive metal sealing element includes a reactive metal having a first volume. The method further includes contacting the reactive metal with a fluid that reacts with the reactive metal to produce a reaction product having a second volume greater than the first volume. The method further includes contacting a surface adjacent to the reactive metal sealing element with the reaction product.

Methods and apparatus for positioning a non-expandable liner hanger in a wellbore. A liner is coupled to the liner hanger, wherein the liner hanger comprises: a conduit body; and a reactive metal sealing element disposed on the conduit body, wherein the reactive metal sealing element comprises a reactive metal having a first volume. An example method includes contacting the reactive metal with a fluid that reacts with the reactive metal to produce a reaction product having a second volume greater than the first volume; and contacting a surface adjacent to the reactive metal sealing element with the reaction product to form a seal against the surface and to anchor the liner hanger from the surface, wherein anchoring the liner hanger to the surface suspends the liner in the wellbore.

Liner hangers and methods of use. An example method includes positioning a liner hanger in a wellbore; the liner hanger comprising: two sealing elements disposed on the exterior of the liner hanger and having a void space therebetween, and a pressure reducing metal element disposed between the two sealing elements. The method further includes trapping a wellbore fluid in the void space; wherein the wellbore fluid thermally expands in the void space creating an annular pressure in the void space; and reducing the annular pressure by materially altering the pressure reducing metal element.

The present disclosure relates generally to equipment utilized and operations performed in conjunction with a subterranean well and, more particularly, to an improved liner hanger system. A downhole expandable liner hanger positioned in a subterranean wellbore may comprise a liner. The downhole expandable liner hanger may further comprise an expansion element. The expansion element may comprise one or more annular seals bonded to the expansion element, a first spike; and a second spike. The downhole expandable liner hanger may further comprise a woven mesh, wherein the woven mesh is disposed around the expansion element between the first spike and the second spike, wherein the woven mesh comprises a first material layer and a second material layer.

The present disclosure relates generally to equipment utilized and operations performed in conjunction with a subterranean well and, more particularly, to an improved liner hanger system. A downhole expandable liner hanger positionable in a subterranean wellbore may comprise an expansion element. The expansion element may comprise a tubular body. The expansion element may comprise one or more annular seals bonded to the tubular body. The expansion element may comprise a first spike extending from the tubular body. The expansion element may comprise a second spike extending from the tubular body. The downhole expandable liner hanger may further comprise a first slip ring, wherein the first slip ring is disposed around the tubular body of the expansion element between the first spike and the second spike, wherein the first slip ring is configured to expand radially as the expansion element expands.

A method, a device and a system for activating a running/setting tool are provided. The method includes: 1) detecting a wellbore condition at the running tool, 2) based on a signal from surface equipment received at the running tool, initiating an isolation of pressure below the running tool from pressure above the running tool, and 3) if the signal is not received at the running tool, initiating the isolation of pressure below the running tool from the above at a predefined time based on the wellbore condition.

A system for use with a subterranean well can include a tubular string with a fluid discharge apparatus, the fluid discharge apparatus including a curved flow path which directs a fluid to flow less toward a structure external to the tubular string. A fluid discharge apparatus can include a generally tubular housing having a longitudinal axis, and at least one curved flow path which directs fluid to flow more parallel to the longitudinal axis from an interior of the housing to an exterior of the housing. A method of mitigating erosion of a structure external to a discharge port in a well can include directing a fluid to flow through a curved flow path, thereby reducing impingement of the fluid on the structure in the well.

Erosion reduction in subterranean wells

Reverse circulation cementing of a liner in a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation is presented. A running tool with expansion cone, release assembly, annular isolation device, and reverse circulation assembly is run-in with a liner. The annular isolation device is set against the casing. A valve, such as a dropped-ball operated sliding sleeve valve, opens reverse circulation ports for the cementing operation. The liner annulus is cemented using reverse circulation. The expandable liner hanger is expanded into engagement with the casing. Conventional circulation is restored. The running tool is released and pulled from the hole.

A slurry discharge device for use in a subterranean well can include a slurry flow passage extending longitudinally in the device. The slurry flow passage has flow passage sections. One flow passage section is positioned downstream of, and is laterally offset relative to, another flow passage section. Another slurry discharge device can include the slurry flow passage having multiple flow areas. One flow area is positioned in a downstream direction from, and is greater than, another flow area. A method of delivering a slurry into a subterranean well can include discharging the slurry from a tubular string through a first sidewall section of a slurry discharge device; and flowing only a returned fluid portion of the slurry through a second sidewall section of the slurry discharge device. The second sidewall section has a lateral thickness greater than a lateral thickness of the first sidewall section.
