A DC matrix power switch structure electrically connects m DC power modules to n charge dispensers for charging electric vehicles. The matrix includes an input structure having m conducting input busbar pairs and an output structure having n conducting output busbar pairs. A first busbar of m input busbar pairs is connected to a positive voltage terminal and a second busbar of m input busbar pairs is connected to a negative voltage terminal of each of m DC power modules. A third busbar of n output busbar pairs is connected to a positive voltage terminal and a fourth busbar of n output busbar pairs is connected to a negative voltage terminal of each of n charge dispensers. The combination produces two times m×n busbar crossing points. A power switch, when activated, electrically connects to the associated busbar at the busbar crossing point.

Matrix switches for optimizing resource utilization in large-scale charging stations with distributed energy resources

A DC matrix power switch structure mechanically and electrically connects m DC power modules to n charge dispensers for charging electric vehicles. The matrix includes an input structure having m conducting input busbar pairs and an output structure having n conducting output busbar pairs. A first busbar of n output busbar pairs is connected to a positive voltage terminal and a second busbar of n output busbar pairs is connected to a negative voltage terminal of each of n charge dispensers, producing two times m&#xd7;n busbar crossing points. A power switch is mechanically mounted to a cross point or is moved to a crossing point and, when activated, connects to the associated busbar at the busbar crossing point providing power to the appropriate charge dispenser. A power switch includes one or more actuators to connect an input busbar to an output busbar with a flexible conductor.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed to enable a fixed or a mobile ground based slave stations (VSAT: Very Small Aperture Terminal) in a communication network to receive TDM transmissions from and transmit TDMA burst transmissions to one or more ground-based gateway stations in a networking system that employs one or more geosynchronous satellites. Each gateway station transmits on one or more forward TDM channels to the slave stations; however, one primary gateway acts as the master station at any given time which transmits the network control messages to the slave stations (VSATs) that control their TDMA transmission behavior on the network.

An integrated satellite/cell system and equipment that provides low-cost telephony services to remote/rural and other previously non-served areas. Local communications is through wireless cell technology with inter cell communication between cells and between cells and the public switched telephone network supported through existing, non-processing satellites by means of satellite earth terminal stations at the remote sites. A demand assigned multiple access satellite network controlled through a open channel signaling and data provides single-hop, full mesh connectivity. The cell can be any cellular or cordless phone technology.
