A method for fabrication of a multilayered optical waveguide structure which includes at least two substrates, and an optical waveguide layer disposed between the substrates and having at least one core region and side cladding regions laterally succeeding from the core region. The method is characterized in that the optical waveguide layer is formed from a polysilane compound containing polysilane, and it comprises stacking a first block including one of the substrates and a second block including the other of the substrates through the optical waveguide layer or a cladding layer located at a surface of either one of the blocks, and heating them while pressed in such arrangement so that the first block and the second block are bonded together by the optical waveguide layer or the cladding layer serving as a bonding layer into the multilayered structure.

A polysilane composition characterized as containing a polysilane compound and a silicone compound in the ratio (polysilane compound:silicon compound) by weight of 80:20-5:95, and also containing an organic peroxide in the amount of 1-30 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the polysilane compound and silicone compound, wherein the silicone compound contains 40-100% by weight of a double bond containing silicon compound.

Polysilane composition, optical waveguide and method for fabrication thereof

A silicone compound, either alone or in combination with a photoacid generator, is added to a branched polysilane compound. According to this constitution, highly reliable polymer material and polymer film can be realized which have excellent stability of refractive index against heat and high transparency and, when the photoacid generator is contained, can cause a change in refractive index upon exposure to ultraviolet light with high sensitivity and high resolution.
