A method of operating a liquid separator includes detecting a volume of a multi-phase liquid mixture inside the operating liquid separator using one or more detectors; determining, from a signal of the one or more detectors, a volume of the multi-phase liquid mixture; determining an amount of a chemical treatment, or other operating parameter, based on the volume of the multi-phase liquid mixture; and applying the amount of chemical treatment, or other operating parameter, to the separator.

A flowmeter body assembly includes a flowmeter body, a fluid passage, and multiple angled connectors. The fluid passage extends through the flowmeter body. The angled connectors extend from a sidewall of the flowmeter body. The flowmeter body and the angled connectors form a one-piece structure formed by an additive manufacturing process. Each of the angled connectors is configured to support a respective sensor to enable measurement of a flow rate of a fluid across at least one chordal plane of the flowmeter body.

A ball for use within a ball valve includes an outer wall, an inner wall that defines a central bore, and a lattice structure positioned within an interior space defined between the outer wall and the inner wall. The ball may include one or more flow conditioners positioned within the central bore. The ball may be formed via an additive manufacturing process.

A system includes a channel having a first end configured to be fluidly coupled to a first portion of a conduit of a drilling system or a production system to enable fluid to flow from the conduit into the channel and a second end configured to be fluidly coupled to a second portion of the conduit to enable return of the fluid from the channel into the conduit. The system also includes at least one sensor positioned along the channel and configured to generate a signal indicative of a characteristic of the fluid as the fluid flows through the channel. A non-destructive method uses ultrasound measurements to determine some mechanical properties of an elastomeric material. The measurements can be made during manufacture of the elastomer for quality control purposes. The measurements can also be made on the elastomeric material in situ as part of a device to assess degradation of the elastomer over time.

The system also includes an actuator assembly positioned along the channel and configured to isolate a portion of the fluid within a chamber of the actuator assembly. The actuator assembly is configured to expand a volume of the chamber to reduce a pressure while the portion of the fluid is within the chamber to facilitate identification of an indicator of dissolved gas within the fluid.

A Doppler array flowmeter system that includes a phased array antenna coupled to a conduit. The phased array antenna includes a plurality of transducers that produce an acoustic beam by emitting a respective first acoustic signal. The transducers receive respective second signals, wherein the second signals are frequency shifted reflections of the first acoustic signals off of particulate in a fluid. A controller couples to the plurality of transducers and compares the first acoustic signals to the second signals to determine a volumetric flowrate of the fluid through a conduit.

A flowmeter for detecting gas flow rates in a pipe includes a container configured to be attached to the pipe having a channel through which the gas flows, and a plurality of recesses that extend through the container and a plurality of housings, each recess having a housing. The flowmeter includes a plurality of transducers, with one transducer of the plurality of transducers disposed in each housing in each recess, the transducers transmitting ultrasonic signals into and receiving ultrasonic signals from the channel. The flowmeter includes acoustic isolators which acoustically isolate the housings from the container. A monitoring system for a blowout preventer (BOP) includes an ultrasonic transceiver configured to be coupled to a body that supports a movable component of the BOP. The system also includes a reflector configured to be positioned within a channel formed in the body. The ultrasonic transceiver is configured to emit an acoustic wave and the reflector is configured to reflect the acoustic wave to facilitate transmission of the acoustic wave from the ultrasonic transceiver to the movable component of the BOP and to facilitate transmission of a reflected acoustic wave from the movable component to the ultrasonic transceiver to enable the ultrasonic transceiver to generate a first signal indicative of a position of the movable component. The system further includes a controller configured to receive the first signal from the ultrasonic transceiver and to determine the position of the movable component based on the first signal.

Blowout preventer monitoring systems and methods

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a drilling fluid system that includes a conduit configured to convey a fluid from a first sub-system of the drilling fluid system to a second sub-system of the drilling fluid system, an ultrasonic measurement system configured to determine a flow rate of the fluid in the conduit, and a controller configured to receive feedback from the ultrasonic measurement system and to adjust one or more operating parameters of the drilling fluid system based at least on the feedback.

Drilling fluid measurement system

An apparatus for detecting potential kicks in a well is provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a drill string positioned in a well, a mud circulation system coupled to supply drilling mud to the drill string, and a mud analyzer. The mud analyzer includes a sensor that is positioned along a drilling mud return path closer to a wellhead assembly installed at the well than to a mud tank of the mud circulation system, and the mud analyzer enables identification of a potential formation kick based on data acquired by the sensor. Kick detection systems and methods

An ultrasonic transducer apparatus is provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes an outer housing, an inner housing disposed within the outer housing, and an ultrasonic transducer disposed within the inner housing. The outer housing has an aperture that enables pressurized fluid to enter the outer housing while allowing the outer housing to acoustically isolate the inner housing and the ultrasonic transducer from an additional component when the outer housing is connected to the additional component. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a sensing array including ultrasonic transducers and a data analyzer coupled to receive input from the sensing array. The sensing array is positioned to transmit ultrasonic waves into the bore of a well assembly and to receive ultrasonic waves from the bore. The data analyzer processes data representative of ultrasonic waves received by the sensing array to identify a location of a component in the bore.
