A method for generating a modulated carrier signal that can be emitted as a parametric wave includes measuring an average amplitude of an audio signal, and adjusting an average amplitude of a carrier signal based on the average amplitude of the audio signal. The carrier signal is then modulated with the audio signal to generate a modulated carrier signal. Various circuits, components and software are also provided for implementing the modulated carrier signal generation scheme.

Parametric signal processing systems and methods

An anchor for use in an entangling projectile includes a head segment and a tail segment, the segments being positionable relative to one another in at least a first, primary configuration and a second, displaced configuration. A shank segment is intermediate the head segment and tail segment and a biasing element is associated with one or more of the head, tail and shank segments and is operable to apply a restorative force to one or both of the head segment and the tail segment. The restorative force tends to return the respective segments into the primary configuration after being moved into the displaced configuration. A projectile deployment system includes a projectile casing having a pair of sockets, each socket sized to carry one of a pair of anchors of an entangling projectile having a tether connecting the pair of anchors. Each of the pair of sockets is angled equally relative to a centerline defined between the sockets. One or more pressure sources is capable of generating a pressure wave capable of expelling one or more of the anchors from the sockets to deploy the entangling projectile from the projectile casing toward a subject. A controller is operable to activate one or both of the pressure sources. A sight is oriented along a target line, the target line being offset relative to the centerline defined between the sockets such that when the anchors are deployed from the projectile casing they exhibit differing flight characteristics.

Projectile launching systems with anchors having dissimilar flight characteristics

A projectile deployment system includes an entangling projectile having a pair of anchors and a tether connecting the pellets. A projectile casing includes a pair of sockets, each socket sized to carry one of the pair of anchors. At least one pressure source is capable of expelling one or both of the anchors from the projectile casing toward a subject. At least one of the entangling projectile or the projectile casing can be configured such that the pair of anchors travel toward the subject with differing flight characteristics after being expelled from the projectile casing.

An entangling projectile for use with a projectile deployment system includes a pair of pellets. At least one of the pair of pellets has a head with a head outer diameter and a shank with a shank outer diameter, the shank outer diameter being less than the head outer diameter. A tether connects the pair of pellets. A centering shroud is carried by a shank of the at least one of the pair of pellets. The centering shroud has at least one tether opening formed therein to receive the tether. The tether is coupled to the pellet and extends along the shank of the pellet and through the at least one tether opening formed in the centering shroud.

Entangling projectiles and systems for their use

An entangling projectile includes a pair of pellets and a tether connecting the pellets. The pellets each have a head portion and a tail portion. At least one gasket is carried by the head portion of at least one of the pellets. The gasket is operable to provide a sealed interface between the head portion of the at least one pellet and a socket within which the at least one pellet is fired from a launcher.

A system for alerting a user to a state of a weapon includes a safety assembly, operably coupled to the weapon and operable to selectively render the weapon into either a safe mode or a firing mode. A motor is carried by the weapon and is operably coupled to the safety assembly so as to be engaged when the weapon is in the firing mode. The motor is operable to impart vibratory motion to the weapon of sufficient magnitude that a wielder of the weapon can tactilely sense the vibratory motion without visually inspecting the weapon to thereby sense that the weapon is in the firing mode without visually inspecting the weapon.

Systems and methods for providing information to users of hand-held weaponry

A secondary launcher is coupled to the primary launcher, the secondary launcher carrying a second projectile. At least one power source is associated with one or both of the primary and secondary launchers. At least one control system is operable to activate the power source. At least one user input is operable to communicate with the control system to activate the at least one power source to expel one or both of the first projectile and the second projectile from the launchers toward the subject. Each of the primary launcher and the secondary launcher carry an independent power source, such that each of the primary and secondary launchers can be independently initiated by a user.

An entangling projectile for use with a projectile deployment system includes a pair of pellets, at least one of the pair of pellets having a head with a head outer diameter and a shank with a shank outer diameter, the shank outer diameter being less than the head outer diameter. A tether connects the pair of pellets. A shroud is fitted about a shank of the at least one of the pair of pellets, the shroud having a tether opening formed therein to receive the tether, the tether being coupled to the pellet and extending along the shank of the pellet and through the tether opening formed in the shroud.

A method is provided of remotely detaining a subject with a temporary restraint. The method includes monitoring at least a portion of a perimeter of an area, and receiving an event signal generated as a result of remote movement or presence of a subject. A projectile is be remotely launched from a launcher a toward the subject, the projectile including a pair of pellets and a tether connecting the pellets. The projectile is capable of at least temporarily detaining the subject when wrapped about the subject.

Perimeter security system with non-lethal detainment response

A near-range launcher assembly for at least temporarily detaining a subject includes a primary launcher carrying a first projectile. The first projectile includes a pair of pellets and a tether connecting the pellets and is capable of at least temporarily detaining a subject. A secondary launcher is coupled to the primary launcher and carries a second projectile that is capable of at least temporarily detaining a subject. A power source is associated with one or both of the primary and secondary launchers. A control system is operably coupled to the at least one power source and is operable to activate the power source. A user input is operably coupled to the at least one control system to communicate with the control system to activate the at least one power source to expel one or both of the first projectile and the second projectile toward the subject.

An entangling projectile for use in a projectile deployment system includes a pair of pellets, a flexible tether connecting the pellets, and an engagement adhesive. The engagement adhesive is applied to at least a portion of one of the pair of pellets or the tether and is operable to adhesively engage the skin or clothing of a subject engaged by the entangling projectile.
