Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for sorting a disarranged index keys in an index. First an operation is performed on a table that includes an index set on at least one column, where the operation causes the index keys in the index to become disarranged. The disarranged index keys are rearranged into a proper order using an in-place index sort. To rearrange the index keys in the index, a determination is made whether the index is a tail-end index and whether the index is a fixed-size index. Based on the determination, the in-place index sort is performed on the index, where the in-place index sort arranges the index keys in the index into the proper order.

In-place index repair

Systems and methods for non-disruptive cache startup, shutdown, data partition movement, and node rebalancing for a data fabric within a data grid in a database environment. The data grid is a clustered in-memory database (IMDB) cache comprising one or more data fabrics including multiple IMDB cache nodes. The method takes a time tag and moves data from source to destination nodes while allowing updates to data on the source nodes. The method propagates updates occurring after the time tag to destination nodes from source nodes and switches applications and ownership to the destination nodes. Another method slices data for a partitioned fabric and stores slices on nodes. Another method starts a data fabric by moving data from a grid backend to the nodes. In an embodiment, another method rebalances nodes in a non-disruptive manner. When a fabric is shutdown, the method saves data from the nodes to the grid backend.

Non-disruptive data movement and node rebalancing in extreme OLTP environments

System, method, computer program product embodiments and combinations and sub-combinations thereof for incremental data transfer in a database management system (DBMS) are provided. In an embodiment, a database table enabled for partial export from a database management system is identified. Data within the database table to be exported is also identified, and the identified data is transferred in a chosen format from the database table to an export location.

Incremental data transfer in a database management system

A Client/Server Database system is described which includes a Database Server providing methods for executing system-created internal command statements (e.g., SQL statements), such as those which ordinarily are submitted to the server by various Clients. The Database Server is modified so that it can be its own 'user,' thus removing the fundamental schism which had existed in prior systems. The system is allowed to issue SQL commands to itself and, thus, can do anything that either the system or the user can do. The methodology is particularly useful for carrying out upgrades. The system can now set flags that are not accessible to users. Unlike a standalone 'utility' approach, however, authentication is assured. Here, the system is assured that a known user--itself--has issued the command. As a result, it is no longer necessary to expose 'dangerous' system functions to users.
