An end guide for a cord attachment device includes a cloth. The cloth is configured to fold over, unto, and overlap itself. The cloth has three portions. The first and second portions are longer than a third portion. The cloth is folded axially about a central longitudinal axis. The central longitudinal axis spans from the proximal end to the distal end of the cloth. The folding causes the first and second portions to overlap. A plurality of flutes are configured in the cloth by a plurality of stitch lines running parallel to each other and extending through first and second sides (the front and back) of the cloth and extending through the overlap of the first and second portions. At least one of the plurality of stitch lines are located between each of the flutes. The flutes span to both the proximal and distal ends of the cloth. First and second portions are folded outwardly away from the plurality of flutes at both the proximal and distal ends and then stitched to the cloth so as to create end channels for the routing of a cover cord (when a cover is used) or a keeper cord. The stitching is perpendicular to the plurality of stitch lines.

The flow disruption chamber(s) are configured to provide fluid communication with the next flow disruption chamber in the direction of fluid flow. The inflatable housing is detached from a fill tube to lift the payload above terrain blocking line-of-sight signal communication.

The outer sleeve is a polytetrafluoroethylene cloth layer. A first fiberglass cloth layer is adjacent to the polytetrafluoroethylene cloth layer. A polybenzimidazole cloth layer is adjacent to the fiberglass cloth layer. A para-aramid synthetic fibrous cloth layer is adjacent to the polybenzimidazole cloth layer. A second fiberglass cloth layer is adjacent to the para-aramid synthetic fibrous cloth layer. The polytetrafluoroethylene cloth layer, the first fiberglass cloth layer, the polybenzimidazole cloth layer, the para-aramid synthetic fibrous cloth layer, and the second fiberglass cloth layer are stitched together. The n number of concentric sleeves are stitched together and to a textile structural member.

A double finger trap loop includes at least one braid having a first end and a second end. The braid is defined by an inner portion and an outer portion. The inner portion is a hollow conduit in the braid. The braid is readily adaptable to accept the first end and the second end into the hollow conduit. A preferred embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention relates to an apparatus for Active Network Guidance and Emergency Logic (ANGEL). ANGEL is a computer based program designed to function preferably in the mission computer on a vehicle, preferably an aircraft The program is preferably installed as part of an aircraft's Operational Flight Program (OFP) card(s) in the mission computer. ANGEL new versions and updates can be installed along with OFP updates. A second aspect of the present invention is a method for integrating and interacting with vehicle subsystems and controller subsystems, to prevent mishaps and accidents during a mission. ANGEL can prevent aircrew and aircraft problems by providing cueing or automation of emergency tasking, displaying procedures for aircrew to respond in emergency situations and providing assistance to an incapacitated pilot. In addition, ANGEL improves aircrew and aircraft survivability by reducing susceptibility to air to air and ground to air threats, reducing controlled flight into terrain and midair collisions and aiding in successful ejection from unrecoverable aircraft.

Apparatus and method for ensuring retention of situational awareness by employing an active network guidance and emergency logic (angel) system

A releasable connector for a pair of tensioned elements, such as straps sorting a parachuted load, has a cylindrical body separable at a diametrical plane into a pair of blocks each adapted for connection of the block to one of the elements. A helical groove is disposed about the body and is wound in one circumferential direction with the majority of an endless line of para-aramid fiber. The line is tensioned to hold the blocks in engagement so that the elements are joined by the connector. The ends of the groove return helically in the opposite circumferential direction, and the remainder of the line is wrapped in this opposite direction about the majority of the line. The body has a pair of recesses extending radially inwardly from the groove and individually receiving a pair of pyrotechnic line cutters. Each cutter extends into the groove and, at the groove, has an eye through which the line extends for severing by either cutter to release the blocks from engagement and disconnect the tensioned elements.

The disclosed invention is a regulated drag area parachute for decelerating manned ejection seat or an ejectable capsule at a low altitude from an aircraft or other air vehicle. This parachute comprises a canopy composed of two portions, suspension lines, and a means for controlling the inflation of the canopy so that the two portions of the canopy inflate independently from one another. This means for controlling the inflation of the canopy provides a manner to regulate the rate of inflation of the lower portion of the canopy. Thus, the invention allows the top, or apex portion of the canopy, to inflate rapidly while the remaining portion of the canopy can be inflated subsequently and in a controlled manner so that the effective drag area of the canopy can be regulated during the deployment of the parachute.

A parachute canopy seam joint for fastening a ribbon seam and a radial seam of a parachute canopy together. This parachute canopy seam joint combines a ribbon seam using a zigzag stitch pattern and narrow strips of radial tape sewn together with multiple rows of a straight stitch pattern. The ribbon seam attaches two overlapping ribbons within the parachute. The narrow strips of radial tape shroud the ribbon seam which result in a high strength and low weight and volume radial seam and seam joint. This new configuration of a parachute seam joint has distinct advantages in terms of strength and shock absorbing capacity. Specifically, this new parachute seam joint has a seam strength equal to or greater than the minimum rated strength of the adjoining materials and employs a smaller weight and volume of material than conventional radial seams and seam joints.
