A catalyst, having a specified amount of rare earth metal content and a specified amount of alkali metal content, suitable for conversion of hydrocarbon oils to lower boiling products comprises a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite, such as zeolite Y, an inorganic oxide matrix and, optionally discrete particles of alumina dispersed in the matrix. The zeolite prior to being composited with the matrix has a unit cell size above about 24.5 Angstroms. A cracking process utilizing the catalyst is also provided.

Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts

A cracking catalyst comprising discrete particles of ultra-stable Y-type zeolite and discrete particles of alumina, which particles are dispersed in a porous oxide matrix to produce a catalyst containing 5-40 wt. % ultra-stable Y-type zeolite, 5-40 wt. % alumina and 40-90 wt. % of porous oxide matrix. The cracking catalyst has unusually high activity and selectivity for the production of high octane gasoline fractions from higher boiling point feedstocks.

A method for the removal of CO from flue gas which comprises contacting a spent noble metal reforming catalyst with flue gas from a cat cracker regenerator at 1000.degree.-1350.degree. F. to effectively oxidize CO to CO.sub.2. The spent catalyst while no longer efficient in a reforming process is found to be effective in reducing the CO level to a concentration range of 5000 parts per million and less.

An improved catalyst, and process utilizing said catalyst for catalytically cracking a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon feed, and for the fixation of sulfur by the catalyst and transfer thereof from the catalyst regeneration zone to the reaction zone of a catalytic cracking unit. The catalyst comprises an admixture of composite particles, one present in major concentration for providing principally cracking and combustion promoting functions, and the other present in minor concentration for providing principally sulfur fixation and transfer functions. The particle present in major concentration, on the one hand, is constituted essentially of one or more Group VIII noble metals, preferably platinum, composited with a support comprised of a crystalline alumino silicate component distributed in an active cracking catalyst matrix, suitably one constituted of silica-alumina. The minor component particle, on the other hand, is comprised of one or more Group II-A metals, preferably magnesium, composited with a support, suitably silica-magnesia or silica-alumina, which may also contain a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite component dispersed within thesilica-magnesia or silica-alumina support matrix.

Hydrocarbon cracking catalyst and process utilizing the same

An improved catalyst, and process utilizing said catalyst for catalytically cracking a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon feed, and for the fixation of sulfur by the catalyst and transfer thereof from the catalyst regeneration zone to the reaction zone of a catalytic cracking unit. Sulfur transfer process in catalytic cracking

A perovskite is added to a conventional hydrocarbon cracking catalyst comprising a zeolite and an inorganic oxide gel matrix. The perovskite is present in said catalyst in an amount up to about 10 weight percent based on the total catalyst.

Hydrocarbon cracking using combined perovskite and zeolite catalyst

The octane number of a cracked naphtha can be significantly improved in a catalytic cracking unit, without significant decrease in naphtha yield, by maintaining certain critical concentrations of metals on the catalyst, suitably by blending or adding a heavy metals-containing component to the gas oil feed. Suitably, in a catalytic cracking process unit wherein a gas oil feed is cracked in a cracking reactor (zone) at an elevated temperature in the presence of a cracking catalyst, the cracking catalyst is regenerated in a regenerator (regeneration zone) by burning coke off the catalyst, and catalyst is circulated between the reactor and regenerator, sufficient of a metals-containing heavy feedstock is admixed, intermittantly or continuously, with the gas oil feed to deposit metals on said catalyst and raise the metals-content of said catalyst to a level of from about 1500 to about 6000 parts per million, preferably from about 2500 to about 4000 parts per million expressed as equivalent nickel, based on the weight of the catalyst, and said metals level is maintained on the catalyst throughout the operation by withdrawing high metals-containing catalyst and adding low metals-containing catalyst to the regenerator.
