A combination cot loading and fastening system for loading and unloading an ambulance cot having a normal loading height of about 76 centimeters (about 30 inches) into an emergency rescue vehicle having a transport deck in excess of 78 centimeters (about 31 inches), the vehicle having an opening providing access to the transport deck, is disclosed. The system comprises a pair of tracks, a shuttle assembly to securely pull the ambulance cot along the pair of tracks, and a locking mechanism mounted on the shuttle assembly. The shuttle assembly is configured to position the locking mechanism a distance away from a second end of the pair of tracks and at angle below the transport deck of the emergency rescue vehicle, the angle ranging from about 10&#xb0; to 25&#xb0;, and the distance ranging about 22.8 centimeters (about 9 inches) to about 50 centimeters (about 20 inches).

A combination ambulance cot and chair is disclosed. The invention includes a support frame, and a segmented patient support pivotally mounted to the support frame for movement at least between a chair position and a fully-reclined position. The segmented patient support has a seat segment. A securing device is connected functionally to the support frame and the seat segment, and configured to releasably secure the combination ambulance cot and chair in at least the fully-reclined position.

A roll-in chair cot which is movable between a chair position, a fully lowered cot height position, a fully elevated cot height position, and an intermediate cot height position is disclosed. With the chair cot positioned in the intermediate position, the chair cot is approximately bed height such that a patient may be laterally transferred from the bed to the chair cot in a generally supine position.

A multiple level elevating cot adapted to be rolled into emergency vehicles, the cot having a wheeled undercarriage supporting a cot frame having a leading end and a trailing end, The leading end comprises a drop frame adapted to be positionable in extended, middle, collapsed, and lengthened positions. Leg members interconnect the cot frame and the undercarriage. A latching device is adapted to selectively secure the leg members in a plurality of elevational positions. The cot further comprises a pair of sidearm supports provided to the cot frame between the leading end and the trailing end, each of the sidearm supports being adapted to be positionable in vertically-up, vertically-down, substantially horizontal, and folded positions relative to the cot frame.

Multiple level roll-in cot

A multiple level elevating cot adapted to be rolled into emergency vehicles, the cot having a wheeled undercarriage supporting a cot frame having a leading end and a trailing end, and adapted to selectively secure the cot frame in a plurality of elevational positions. The cot frame includes a pair of side extension arms provided between the leading end and the trailing end, each of the side extension arms being adapted to slidably extend outwardly from a stowed position adjacent the cot frame to an extended position substantially perpendicular to the cot frame. The cot further includes a drop frame that may be lengthened and sidearm supports positionable in vertically-up, vertically-down, substantially horizontal, and a folded position relative to the cot frame. The cot frame may form a part of an integral stretcher or may serve as a carrier to which a separable top structure mounts.

A cot for assisting in the transfer of a body from a removable support bed of the cot to another surface. The cot includes a trolley which serves as a transporter for the removable support bed. The cot also includes a tilting device which is designed to tilt the support bed about the trolley. The support bed may be removed from the trolley to reduce the total weight carried by the attendants, and permit the removal of a body from locations which are difficult to access. When removed from the trolley, the support bed may be rolled upright with wheels that are located at one end of the support bed. The support bed is contoured in shaped to pool bodily fluids which may escape during transport. A locking device is provided on the trolley for releasably securing the support bed thereon.

Tilt-top mortuary cot

A reclinable ambulance cot used to load a patient into the back of an ambulance is provided. The cot includes a wheeled collapsible undercarriage carrying an articulated bed frame comprised of a leg segment, seat segment, and wheeled back segment. The articulated bed frame may be moved between an inclined, fully-reclined position, a chair position, and a plurality of positions therebetween. A lockable biasing device assists in the transition by urging the bed frame segments from the chair position to the fully-reclined position. The back segment further includes a pair of loading wheels at the ends of side extensions such that when the cot is in the inclined, fully-reclined position the loading wheels are at height sufficient to facilitate loading the reclined cot into the back of an ambulance, and in particular, into the back of an ambulance having a high transport deck.

A roll-in cot is provided and includes a rectangular undercarriage including a pair of side frame members and a pair of transverse frame members, downwardly extending supports affixed at respective corners of the rectangular undercarriage, and undercarriage wheels attached to the downwardly extending supports to provide high ground clearance for the undercarriage. The cot also includes a cot frame having a pair of opposing side frame members and a pair of supports extending downwardly from each of the opposing side frame members. The opposite ends of the supports are secured to a transverse member having a pair of load wheels thereon. Coacting pairs of complementary cross-forming frame members extend between and interconnect the cot frame and the undercarriage.

A lifting mechanism adapted to be placed in the trunk of a vehicle, the lifting mechanism having a lift platform movable from a storage position within the trunk to an elevated position in which the lift platform projects outwardly from the trunk, the platform being raised and lowered by a lever mechanism with or without a powered assist. The lifting mechanism may be used alone or in combination wtih a wheeled cart and an article supporting carriage by means of which the article may be transferred between the cart and the lifting mechanism.

Trunk loading device for business machines and the like

A one man cart for carrying articles of merchandise having a main horizontal frame having auxiliary wheels at the forward end thereof, a pair of rear legs pivoted from the front of said main frame and inclined downwardly and rearwardly, a toggle brace pivoted to the rear of said main frame and inclined downwardly and forwardly and pivoted to said rear legs, front legs pivoted to the front of said frame and extending substantially vertically downwardly. A mechanism is provided to lock and unlock said front legs so that they may be pivoted rearwardly for operations such as moving the cart up and down stairs while holding the cart by an extension of the rear legs at the front of the cart. The toggle braces for the rear legs are pivotal to unlock the rear legs. A mechanism provided at the rear of the cart is operable to sequentially unlock the front legs and thereafter the rear legs to permit the cart to be thrust into a vehicle pivoting the front legs and rear legs sequentially while the cart is supported by the auxiliary wheels riding on the deck of the vehicle.

One man cart for articles

A cart for use in transporting and demonstrating business machines and the like, the cart comprising a wheel section and a handle section each having spaced apart pairs of track forming frame members along which a carriage for mounting a business machine is adapted to travel from a transport position in which the carriage lies adjacent the lower end of the wheel section to a demonstration position adjacent the upper end of the handle section which is curved to permit the upper end of the handle section to be seated on the top of a desk, the handle section mounting spring assist means in the form of a spiral spring the end of which is operatively connected to the carriage to counterbalance the weight of the business machine as the cart is moved from one position to the other, the cart having a detachable support leg which, in its position of use, converts the cart into a free-standing demonstration stand, a trunk loading attachment also being provided, the attachment comprising a track forming frame extension adapted to be connected to the upper end of the handle section and a base plate adapted to be positioned in the trunk, the base plate mounting an adjustable support which pivotally receives the frame extension, the frame extension being pivotal about the support to deposit the carriage in the trunk, whereupon the frame extension is detached from the remainder of the cart and lowered onto the base plate.
