The invention relates to a hydraulic vehicle brake system with a master cylinder, with two brake circuits (I, II), with wheel brakes connected to the brake circuits (I, II), and with a wheel slip regulator device disposed between the master cylinder and the wheel brakes, which device has at least one brake pressure modulation valve device and at least one high pressure pump, and with a pump unit associated with this high pressure pump. In the automatic braking operation by means of at least one of the high pressure pumps, the pump unit is used for supplying hydraulic fluid to the high pressure pump. The pump unit has a low pressure pump in the form of a gear pump. To limit the pressure at an outlet of the low pressure pump at least one return flow conduit is provided between this outlet and an inlet, which conduit, in a manner according to the invention constitutes a throttle by which the choice of its cross section, which throttle is for controlling at least one return flow which increases with increasing pressure at the outlet and as a result achieves the pressure limiting. The hydraulic vehicle brake system can be used for cars, minibuses, and small trucks.

The system serves to control the brakes of at least two wheels of a vehicle, preferably mounted on the same axle. Means are provided for controlling the brake pressure at the so-called low wheel to prevent it from locking after it has been recognized that this wheel is showing a tendency to lock. In addition, detection means are provided for determining a variable which modifies and/or represents the driving dynamics of the vehicle. A corresponding threshold value is also derived for this variable. A comparison means is provided to compare the determined variable with the determined threshold value, and a comparison result is generated. The movement of a vehicle is controlled by actuating actuators which apply a braking force to the wheels. For this purpose, the rotational speeds of the wheels, the steering angle and at least one of the lateral acceleration and the yawing movement of the vehicle are detected. A first module is configured so that the actuators are actuated by means of the actuation signals with the effect of controlling a first variable. The second module is configured so that signals for influencing the actuation signals are formed with the effect of controlling a second control variable. In order to obtain this second control variable, at least the variable which represents the steering angle is processed. The second controller component brings about a control of a variable which is determined at least as a function of the lateral movement or the yawing movement of the vehicle.

A movement variable which represents the movement of a vehicle is controlled by actuating at least one actuator for applying a braking force to the wheels. Controller means use controller internal variables to form signals for influencing the actuators with the effect of adjusting a control variable. The controller means has a first area adapted to the respective selected sensor configuration in such a way that the controller-internal variables are formed on the basis of the sensor signals, and a second area for processing the controller-internal variables independently of the selection of the sensor configuration. As a result, simple adaptation with low development and application outlay to a wide variety of sensor configurations is possible.

First and second signals representing unevenness of the roadway are generated for at least one wheel, and brake pressure is controlled using control parameters based on the second signal. The first signal is compared to a first threshold which is dependent on the second signal, and an extreme value signal which represents large impacts on the vehicle is generated when the threshold is exceeded. The control parameters are then adjusted so that the channels for controlling brake pressure at each controlled wheel are less sensitive.
