Transport apparatus for small sized hardware items includes a fluidized bed with a sloping gas permeable base (6) at the inlet end of the bed. Gas feed chambers (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) are located on the lowerside of the base (6) and are sealed from one another in a gas tight manner. Powder columns (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) of different heights extend upwardly above the base (6). Gas at different pressures is supplied through the gas feed chambers (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) into the powder columns forming a uniform fluidized bed (2). The base slopes downwardly and has step-like transitions adjacent intersections of the chambers.

Fluidized bed transport apparatus for coating small hardware items

A drilling device is made up of a hollow cylindrical retainer and an annular drill bit. One of the retainer and drill bit has recesses for receiving projections on the other so that the two parts can be detachably connected together. Each recess has a first and a second axially extending section with the second section extending circumferentially from the opposite axially extending sides of the first section. Accordingly, the second section forms stop shoulders extending transversely of the axial direction for contacting circumferentially extending edges of the projections. As a result, the retainer can transmit rotary motion to the drill bit in both rotational directions while maintaining the two parts in connected engagement.

Drilling device

A drilling tool is made up of a holder and a drilling member detachably connected together. One of the holder and the drilling member telescopes into the other. Resilient tab-like parts on one of the holder and the drill member engages within recesses in the other for effecting a rotatably locked connection between them. Accordingly, torque can be transmitted through the drilling tool by the tab-like parts and the recesses for effecting a drilling operation. The holder and drilling member can be disconnected without the use of any auxiliary tools.

Drilling tool

A dowel assembly to be anchored in a borehole in a receiving material includes a container positioned around the axis of the borehole and located between an abutment at one end of the dowel assembly and the receiving material into which the assembly is inserted. The container is formed of two parts with one part being telescopically displaceable into the other. An hydraulic mass capable of expanding when mixed with a reaction liquid is filled into the container. The expandable hydraulic mass maintains the force acting on the dowel assembly when there is relaxation of the force originally generated between the dowel assembly and the receiving material. The container has openings through which the reaction liquid can pass into contact with the hydraulic mass. The hydraulic mass can be activated by immersing the container in water.

Means for maintaining axial stress on a dowel assembly

In an apparatus for driving fastening elements, such as bolts and nails, into receiving material, a first or driving piston is mounted in a first chamber through which it is axially displaceable. A pressure converter arrangement is connected to an inlet to the first chamber for supplying the compressed air required for displacing the first piston for driving in a fastening element. The pressure converter includes a storage chamber, a second chamber in communication with the storage chamber and a third chamber. A double headed piston has one head in the second chamber and the other head in the third chamber. The third chamber has a much greater transverse cross-sectional area than the second chamber. Compressed air supplied to the third chamber compresses air in the second chamber which is directed into the storage chamber. From the storage chamber, the compressed air is charged into the first chamber for driving the first piston forwardly for inserting the fastening element.

Compressed air apparatus for driving fastening elements

In a setting device, a magazine is advanced through a guide channel to present fastening elements in the path of a driving member. The magazine is moved in a step-wise manner by a transport pawl, and the pawl, in turn, is reciprocated relative to the drive channel by an operating member. A linkage interconnecting the operating member and the transport pawl, includes a pin secured to the operating member extending into a triangularly shaped recess in the transport pawl. The pin pivots the transport pawl out of engagement with the magazine in the guide channel and moves the pawl rearwardly so that it can again engage the magazine and move it so that another fastening element is aligned with the driving member.

Arrangement for transporting a magazine through a setting device

In the housing of a setting device for driving fastening elements, a belt-like magazine holding fastening elements in spaced relation is moved through a guide channel transversely of the path of a driving piston. A transport device positioned in the housing moves the magazine through the guide channel in a step-wise manner. A stop lever is pivotally mounted in the housing and is spring-biased at one end into the guide channel. When the magazine is located within the guide channel in the path of the stop lever, the transport device can be operated to move the magazine. When the magazine is moved out of the path of the stop lever, however, the stop lever extends further through the guide channel and its other end engages a pawl on the transport device blocking its operation so that the magazine cannot be moved through the guide channel.
