A position-measuring device includes a graduation carrier having a measuring graduation, position measurement electronics, a data memory and a power supply. The data memory includes a first memory which is a volatile memory for storing additional data, a second memory which is a writable non-volatile memory, and a memory controller for controlling transfer and storage of additional data from the first into the second memory. The power supply includes an input stage, a first output stage for the position measurement electronics, a second output stage for the data memory, and a voltage monitor which will turn off the first output stage of the power supply in response to a drop below a minimum value and signal the drop to the memory controller by a backup signal. In response to the backup signal, the memory controller will transfer additional data from the first memory into the second memory.

Position-measuring device and method for operating the same

A position measuring device includes a measuring standard and a scanning unit, which are arranged in a manner that allows them to move relative to each other in a measuring direction. The measuring standard includes a graduation, which is scannable by the scanning unit in order to generate positional signals. The scanning unit includes an illumination unit and a detector unit for generating positional signals, the illumination unit being able to emit light in the direction of the graduation and the detector unit being able to detect light modulated by the graduation. The detector unit includes a circuit board and a sensor unit, which is arranged as a semiconductor chip. At least two photodetectors are provided on a front side of the sensor unit facing the graduation, and the electrical connections of the sensor unit are routed to contact surfaces on its rear side by metallic vias. The sensor unit is connected via the contact surfaces to corresponding contact surfaces on the circuit board.

Position measuring device

A position measuring device includes: a first graduation carrier having a measuring graduation; a scanning unit, which is arranged so as to allow movement in a measuring direction relative to the measuring graduation in order to generate position-dependent scanning signals by scanning the measuring graduation; a signal processing unit for processing the scanning signals into positional signals; and a signal interface via which the positional signals are able to be output to subsequent electronics. At least one correction unit is provided in the signal processing unit by which at least one signal error of at least one scanning signal is able to be corrected. A monitoring unit is arranged to detect the reaching of a limit value of the signal error, and a correction unit triggering the event is able to be deactivated subsequently.

Position measuring device and method for operating a position measuring device

A position-measuring device includes a measuring standard, a scanning unit, and a rotary bearing by which the measuring standard or the scanning unit is rotationally mounted. The measuring standard and the scanning unit are rotatable in relation to each other. The scanning unit generates output signals, on the basis of which a rotary angle associated with the relative motion of the measuring standard and the scanning unit is able to be determined. A monitoring device monitors the rotary bearing for the occurrence of bearing faults and is adapted to detect and analyze at least one measured variable for a plurality of different relative positions of the measuring standard in relation to the scanning unit, in order to determine deviations from a setpoint behavior of the measured variables on the basis of the measured variable detected for a plurality of relative positions.

Position-measuring device able to monitor deviations from a setpoint behavior and method for operating the position-measuring device

In a device and a method for the automated detection of an interface between a position-measuring device and sequential electronics that are interconnected via a data-transmission channel, the position-measuring device includes an interface unit and a position-measuring unit. The interface unit is connected first of all to the data-transmission channel, and secondly to the position-measuring unit for the purpose of an internal data exchange. The interface to the sequential electronics is selectable in the interface unit from at least two interfaces. Also disposed in the position-measuring device is an interface-detection unit, which is supplied with at least one input signal that arrives from the sequential electronics via the data-transmission channel, and which includes a device for determining the time sequence of signal edges of the at least one input signal in conjunction with the signal status, as well as an evaluation unit in which the interface used to the sequential electronics is detectable by evaluating the time sequence determined, and is selectable in the interface unit.

Device and method for the automated detection of an interface

A moisture sensor arrangement including a plate-like semiconductor substrate and an integrated signal processing component disposed on a first side of the semiconductor substrate. The moisture sensor arrangement including a capacitive moisture sensor connected electrically conductively to the integrated signal processing component, wherein the capacitive moisture sensor is disposed on either the first side or a second side of the semiconductor substrate that is opposite the first side of the semiconductor substrate. In addition, the plate-like semiconductor substrate includes 1) plated through-holes, by way of which elements on the first side and the second side of the semiconductor substrate are electrically connectable to one another; and 2) a temperature sensor integrated with the integrated signal processing component.

Moisture sensor arrangement

A device for manipulating interface signals includes a slave interface, which is connectable to a master interface of a control device, a master interface, which is connectable to a slave interface of a measuring device, and a circuit configuration, which is supplied with at least one data-input signal per interface, and which outputs a corresponding data-output signal per data-input signal to the respective other interface. The circuit configuration includes at least one manipulation unit, to which a data-input signal and a substitute-data signal are supplied and which outputs a corresponding data-output signal, as well as a protocol unit, to which at least one protocol-relevant interface signal is supplied and which, based on manipulation rules and information received with the at least one protocol-relevant interface signal, chooses when the at least one manipulation unit outputs the corresponding data-input signal or the substitute-data signal as data-output signal.

Device for manipulating interface signals

An apparatus for angle measurement that includes a graduation carrier with a code track disposed concentrically to a center point of the graduation carrier. The apparatus includes a first scanning unit having a first interface and a second scanning unit having a second interface, wherein the first and second scanning units ascertain angle values of the graduation carrier by scanning the code track. The apparatus further includes a control unit having: 1) a device interface that is in communication with a follower electronics unit, 2) a control unit interface that is in communication with the first and second interfaces and 3) a processing unit. By which the processing unit, angle values of the first and second scanning units can be requested and processed into a corrected angle value, and the corrected angle value can be transmitted to the follower electronics unit via the device interface.

Method and apparatus for angle measurement

A multiturn rotary encoder includes a singleturn code disk which is joined in rotatably fixed manner to a shaft and which has a code track that is scannable by a singleturn scanning unit to ascertain the absolute position within one revolution of the shaft, a multiturn unit for measuring revolution data which are suitable for ascertaining the number of revolutions performed by the shaft, and an evaluation unit which is connected to the multiturn unit via at least two digital interfaces for transmitting the revolution data. The revolution data include at least two data words which have a different rate of change during rotation of the shaft, the interface for transmitting the data word having the highest rate of change to the evaluation unit is a parallel interface, and the interface for transmitting the data word having the lowest rate of change to the evaluation unit is a serial interface.

Multiturn rotary encoder

A position-measuring device includes a code, including a series of code elements arranged one behind the other in a measuring direction, in which at least two consecutive code elements respectively form a code word containing a position information item, and a scanning device having detector elements for reading the at least two code elements of the code that form a code word, and an evaluation device in which the code word having the current position information may be ascertained from the scanning signals of the detector elements. The scanning device and the code are arranged in a moveable manner relative to each other in the measuring direction. Between adjacent code elements, which have identical properties in the transition region, separating elements having complementary properties are inserted.

Position-measuring device

A position measuring device including a code having a sequence of code elements of equal width B that is disposed in a measurement direction and includes a first property and a second property. The sequence of codes elements includes a first set of code elements having the first property and a second set of code elements having the second property, wherein the first and second sets of code elements are each being disposed aperiodically. The position measuring device further including a scanning unit having a plurality of detectors for scanning the code and obtaining scanning signals, wherein a code word defining an absolute position is defined from the scanning signals. The position measuring device including an arrangement for forming an incremental signal from the scanning signals, wherein the arrangement includes a converter device and a collection device arranged downstream of the converter device and wherein the collection device forms respective intermittently periodic partial signals from the scanning signals derived from scanning positions in a spacing matrix.

An angle-measuring device having a scanning device with which scanning of a closed serial first code and scanning of a closed serial second code is enabled, wherein a length of the closed serial second code is less than a length of the closed serial first code, and the closed serial first code and the closed serial second code have at least one common code section. The angle-measuring device includes a detector array for generating first and second sequences of code words of a predetermined scanning length upon scanning of the closed serial first code and second codes, respectively. The first sequence includes a first partial sequence and one common partial sequence, and wherein the common partial sequence is created upon scanning of the common code section. The second sequence includes a second partial sequence and the common partial sequence. The angle-measuring device further includes a decoding device designed for decoding the first and second sequences of code words, wherein the closed serial first and second codes as well as the predetermined scanning length are selected such that code words of the first and second sequences have a Hamming distance greater than 1.

Angle-measuring device and line of products with such angle-measuring devices

A multiturn rotary encoder includes: a single-turn unit, including a code carrier and a single-turn evaluation unit for processing single-turn position signals to form a single-turn code word; a first multiturn unit, including at least one first multiturn code carrier and a first multiturn evaluation unit for processing first multiturn position signals to form a first multiturn code word that indicates the number of revolutions covered by input shaft; and a second multiturn unit, including at least one second multiturn code carrier and a second multiturn evaluation unit for processing second multiturn position signals to form a second multiturn code word that likewise indicates the number of revolutions covered by the input shaft. The functioning of the multiturn units is ascertainable by the multiturn code words generated independently of each other.

Multiturn rotary encoder and method of operating a multiturn rotary encoder

A method for transmitting signals from a position measuring arrangement to an evaluation unit, the method including transmitting position signals, reference pulses, and warning signals indicating a malfunction state from a position measuring arrangement for determining the position of two elements of a machine which are movable relative to each other, to an evaluation unit. The method further includes logically interconnecting the reference pulses with the position signals in such a way that, in a malfunction-free state, a valid status combination for outputting the reference pulses and an invalid status combination for outputting the reference pulses appear in each period. The method including transmitting warning signals indicating a malfunction state during the invalid status combination of the position signals and the reference pulses which, in the malfunction-free state, is invalid for outputting the reference pulses.

Method and device for transmitting signals from a position measuring arrangement to an evaluation unit

A method for absolute position measuring that includes scanning a code having code elements arranged one behind the other in a measuring direction, wherein the code elements include sequential first and second code elements which define a code word containing absolute position information. The method including generating scanning signals within the first code elements and the second code elements. The method further including forming information regarding the sequential first and second code elements from the scanning signals via a reference value and determining the reference value as a function of at least one of the scanning signals within the first code elements and the scanning signals within the second code elements.
