Storage and order-picking system

A storage and picking system including racks having a multiplicity of rack locations; vertical conveyors adjacent laterally to longitudinal sides of corresponding racks or arranged within the corresponding racks; transfer locations arranged for material-flow-related uncoupling between the vertical conveyors and storage-and-retrieval units; storage-and-retrieval units in aisles between the racks; and a conveying level free of rack locations. The vertical conveyors are assigned respective transfer locations in the conveying-means level. A material-flow computer (MFR), which has access to a topology made up of a multiplicity of waypoints and segments, provides article-specific, sequence- or distribution-weighted transport orders to transport the articles between the rack locations and starting points/destinations. The transport orders each have a route, in the conveying-means level, which represents linked segments and along which the articles are moved between the transfer locations and the starting points/destinations, and each of the segments connects one waypoint to another waypoint.

It is disclosed a packing-work station for packing articles, which belong to one picking order, into shipping units comprising: a packing device comprising a packing plane where the articles are stackable to an article stack; a stacking aid having a plurality of lateral sides against which the articles are positioned to form the article stack, wherein the stacking aid is configured to be positioned on the packing plane; and a measuring device for determining dimensions of the article stack in order to individually produce the shipping unit in accordance with the so-determined dimensions; wherein the lateral sides of the stacking aid, which are closed in a circumferential direction of the stacking aid, are connected to each other; wherein the lateral sides define an open bottom side as well as an open top side of the stacking aid, wherein the lateral sides are adjustable in length at least along the circumferential direction for positioning the lateral sides circumferentially compact against the article stack; and wherein the measuring device is configured to measure a length of the lateral sides of the stacking aid as well as to determine a maximum height of the article stack and the measured lengths as well as to transmit the so-determined height to a package-production device which produces the shipping unit in accordance with the measured lengths and the determined height.

It is disclosed a method for picking, in accordance with the goods-to-man principle, a plurality of different articles in accordance with orders, wherein preferably at least one of the orders comprises both fragile and non-fragile articles, which are to be packed together into a shipping container, in a storage and order-picking system, wherein the storage and order-picking system comprises: a warehouse where the articles are stored as storage units, each respectively containing articles of one type only; a plurality of picking-and-packing stations, wherein each picking-and-packing station comprises at least one collecting zone and is configured to buffer a plurality of the articles and to provide the shipping container; a conveying system connecting the warehouse to the picking-and-packing stations; and a controlling unit configured to assign the orders to the picking-and-packing stations, to monitor the picking, and to control material flow; wherein the method comprises the following steps: collecting a plurality of orders; batch-orientated analyzing the collected orders by the controlling unit; batch-orientated assigning the analyzed orders to the picking-and-packing stations by the controlling unit, wherein each of the analyzed orders is assigned to, preferably one of, the collecting zones; article-orientated conveying the storage units via the conveying system from the warehouse to the picking-and-packing stations; removing, preferably manually, the articles conveyed to the picking-and-packing stations, and order-orientated distributing the removed articles to the corresponding collecting zones by depositing the removed articles in the corresponding collecting zones; and packing the collected articles into the shipping container at the corresponding picking-and-packing stations.

Tray-handling station and method for manually loading and unloading of trays

A work station for manually picking of piece goods, including a window conveyor which includes a plurality of optically distinguishable window locations. Each window location includes a defined region of the conveyor which is suitable for receiving a piece good. The conveyor extends through a picking zone and a provision region where different types of piece goods are provided at access locations. At the provision region the order-picking person can grasp piece goods manually from each of the access locations and put same on the conveyor. An order-picking control controls warehouse management and order processing in order to transmit information concerning one of the access locations and a removal quantity to the order-picking person in accordance with an order line of the picking order. A device is provided for allocating an unoccupied window location to one of the order lines based on selection and entry of the order-picking person.
