The present invention relates to a light emitting diode (LED) filament for use in filament lamps that outputs full spectrum light. In one aspect, the LED filament comprises a first plurality of LED dies that emit light within a first range of wavelengths and a second plurality of LED dies that emit light within a second range of wavelengths, where the first and second ranges do not overlap. The LED filament may be assembled using a plurality of die bonding processes. The LED dies may be arranged in a linear arrangement, a staggered arrangement, or combinations thereof. Additionally, the LED filament may be used in a lamp that includes the LED filaments coupled to a support mount within an envelope defining a cavity.

An LED lamp includes a heat dissipating base. The LED lamp further includes an LED assembly, including a plurality if LEDs. The LED assembly is in thermal communication with the heat dissipating base. The LED lamp further includes a bulb disposed over the LED assembly and coupled to the heat dissipating base. The LED lamp further includes a reflective insert disposed inside the bulb and configured to reflect a portion of light generated by the LED assembly in a substantially downward direction.

The LED lamp includes an electrical module electrically coupled to the LED assembly and configured to supply power to the LED assembly. A low-wattage, bi-helically shaped, compact fluorescent lamp, having preferably a wattage rating of preferably 23-watts, to sustain constant luminous output when the lamp is mounted in either in an upright position or mounted lying in the horizontal plane, by the unique placement of two cooling point chambers on the periphery of the bi-helical lamp. In an alternative embodiment, a medium wattage compact fluorescent lamp performs ideally by using three cooling points chambers, whereas higher wattage sized lamps perform best utilizing preferably four to five cooling point chambers. Hence, the plurality of cooling point chambers required for omni-directional mounting of the lamp is functional with the physical size of the lamp, its wattage rating, the quantity of mercury needed and the placement of each cooling point chamber.

The present invention relates to a novel energy saving decorative festive lamp that is ideally suited for use in clubs, restaurants, or decorative applications, where specialized lighting, such as rapid flashing or frequent starts, is required. It may be used with hanging chandeliers for a spectacular display of dazzling illumination sources or because of its low power consumption, may find application as a night-light or to illuminate hallways and stairwells. Each lamp consumes only one watt, is energy efficient and has a long-life, lasting up to 50,000 hours. The outer glass envelope covering the LED array is preferably transparent, whereas the LEDs are available in the following colors: red, blue, green, amber, and white. This energy saving lamp operates efficiently at 1 watt or less to produce an illuminance greater than 25,000 mcd from a string of 10 LEDs, or greater than 37,500 mcd from a string of 15 LEDs, when contained in a transparent cover.

A light tube for a cold cathode fluorescent lamp includes a light tube body, anode and cathode disposed in the light tube body and an activated gas absorber. The light tube body contains inert gas, mercury substance and a layer of phosphor coating on its inner surface. The cathode is adapted for electrically connecting to the negative terminal for emitting electrons to excite the mercury substance for conducting the electrons to the anode as an electric circuit, wherein the excited mercury substance emits ultra violet rays causing the phosphor coating to generate visible light. The activated gas absorber is gas absorber made of zirconium-aluminum alloy which can be activated at an activation temperature substantially lower than 900 degrees Celsius, preferably 390 degrees Celsius, to provide stronger oxygenic gas absorption ability while reducing the manufacturing steps and cost.

Spiral cold cathode fluorescent lamp

The present invention discloses a dual spiral fluorescent lamp that is smaller in volume than a conventional one. To provide for a reduced size compact fluorescent lamp, the end portions of the spiral glass tube are anchored into the holes within the cover of a bi-pin case. Inside of each end portion is a glass stem through which a pair of cathode support wires are passed. The cathode itself is welded to the extreme ends of each cathode support wire. To achieve the short-legged lamp, the cathode support wires lying between the cathode and the stem are bent downward at approximately 60 degrees from the vertically positioned stem. Therefore, by successfully avoiding the cathode coming in contact with the phosphor coating lining the interior of the tube, which may affect the natural lighting emitted by the fluorescent lamp, the two end portions of the fluorescent lamp of the present invention can be much shortened, resulting in a smaller volume than a conventional compact fluorescent lamp.

A novel fluorescent lamp adaptor that safely converts an existing fluorescent lighting fixture that was designed to hold a '2D' 4-pin series fluorescent lamp to one that uses a '2C' series twin circular fluorescent lamp. The use of a type &#x201c;2C&#x201d; fluorescent lamp is advantageous because of its compactness, and greater efficiency, which is commensurate with a longer operational life.

An improved dual circular fluorescent lamp having two or more lamp segments nested in an annular fashion to increase the lumen output. Each annulus is arranged concentrically where each annulus resides in an individual plane that is parallel to previous plane containing another annulus. Each annulus may be made from glass tubing where each annulus is comprised of a different diameter to maintain an equal volume for each annulus. In the preferred embodiment the circular rings coaxially non-coplanar and are arranged in a conical pyramid for typical use as a table or desk lamp, a pendant or ceiling mounted lighting fixture or a torchere floor lamp.

Dual circular fluorescent lamp

The present invention relates to a novel energy efficient, universal replaceable electronic ballast, using compatible adapters, for use in fluorescent lighting fixtures and/or table/floor lamps. This novel energy efficient, universal replaceable electronic ballast comprises a family of electronic ballasts for use with currently available fluorescent lamps; the first being a Circlelite lamp, the second, a compact SpringLamp, the third, either a double or triple biaxial compact fluorescent lamp, and the fourth, a 2D fluorescent lamp. Additionally, these electronic ballasts are available in either an instant start (IS) or a rapid start (RS) designs. It is advantageous to use these universal ballasts with the aforementioned fluorescent lamps because of their increased longevity, typically 9,000 to 10,000 hours, their reduced operating costs and energy efficiencies. Additionally. there are five newly designed families of adapters that are compatible with the universal plug-in electronic ballasts. The first adapter is designed for use with a low profile lighting fixtures having a tabbed base that is secured using two self-tapping screws or rivets, the second adapter for use with a low profile lighting fixtures having a twist-lock mounting base, and a third adapter for use with a low profile fixture having a screw-lock type base. A fourth adapter, having a local switch operating capability, gives height to a table or floor lamp for a coordinated appearance with its accoutrement lampshade. The fifth adapter, having a remote switch operating capability, also gives height to a table or floor lamp for a coordinated appearance with its accoutrement lampshade.

Universal electronic plug-in replaceable fluorescent lamp ballast and adapter

An apparatus that prevents the interchange or replacement of an expensive compact fluorescent lamp with a standard inexpensive incandescent bulb to diminish thefts of the more expensive lamp, by using a locking lamp socket insert in combination with newly designed screw lamp base that permits the operation of the compact fluorescent lamp. Should the compact fluorescent lamp be substituted with a standard inexpensive incandescent bulb, the center contact in the base of the incandescent bulb cannot touch the centrally located leaf-spring contact of the lamp socket, thereby preventing the incandescent bulb from operating. The lamp socket insert is a rigid plastic material such as nylon, shaped as a flat disk with three tangential cantilever, spaced apart vanes. A pointed end of each tine permits the insert to rotate upon insertion, but a counterclockwise rotation causes the tines to bite into the interior socket sidewalls preventing its counter-rotation and removal.

The present invention relates primarily to a fluorescent lighting fixture having a novel plug-in replaceable electronic ballast that can be replaced without the need of dismantling the installed fixture. In a second embodiment of the present invention, the attachment means is comprised of a ballast housing having a threaded portion that engages the mating threaded indentations found in a recess found in the base of the lighting fixture and is rotatable therein for attachment. This novel attachment and engaging means, thereby reduces the number of components needed for the manufacture of the lighting fixture, concomitantly reducing the assembly time and assembly costs. Alternatively, the attachment means is comprised of a plurality of vanes found typically at the base of the ballast housing as used in a light source apparatus. This attachment means is comprised of a ballast housing having a plurality of vanes that engages the mating threaded indentations found the base of the lighting fixture. The ballast housing is rotatably drawn flat, abutting the surface of the fixture base into a binding frictional engagement. A lamp support bracket, securely attached to the end of the ballast housing opposite its mounting base, is bat-winged shaped to allow the fluorescent lamp to be positioned close to the base of the lighting fixture to permit a stylized dome-shaped cover to be snap-fitted to the base of the fixture. The dome-shaped cover, having a circumferential ridge on its skirt, is securely held in place by snapping the cover past three nibs in the base plate, spaced preferably 120 degrees apart.
