Embodiments described herein are directed to a lighting fixture including a lightguide that distributes light from a major surface, a light assembly including light sources arranged linearly, and a frame including a means for providing a force that urges the light assembly against an edge of the lightguide. A standoff or spacer can provide an air gap between a light source of the light assembly and the waveguide edge. In various embodiments, the lighting fixture may incorporate a spring, a spring finger, a spring clip, a screw, or other means for securing the light assembly against the edge of the lightguide. In this manner, substantially all light provided by the light assembly is emitted into the edge of the lightguide. The fixture is formed to accommodate tolerances among elements of the lighting fixture, while maintaining the light assembly securely against the edge of the lightguide.

Edgelit lighting fixture and assembly

A light emitting diode (LED) module having a configurable LED substrate capable of receiving varying numbers and layouts of LEDs are described herein. The LED substrate includes LED coupling points for receiving the LEDs and electrical traces etched into the substrate for routing power to the LEDs. The LED module can include a multi-LED over-optic having multiple over-optics that are configured to match the number and configuration of the LEDs positioned on the substrate. The LED coupling points and over-optics can be arranged symmetrically to enable the LED module to be rotated to adjust the light output distribution and direction. The LED module can include a power connection mechanism, for example located at the center of the substrate, that also allows the LED module to be rotated. One or more of the LED modules may be mounted on a heat sink and incorporated into a light fixture.

LED luminaire assembly

A light fixture includes a member having a substantially frusto-conical shape. A channel extends between a wide top end of the member and a narrower bottom end of the member. The member includes multiple surfaces ('facets') disposed around its outer surface. Each facet is configured to receive one or more light emitting diodes ('LEDs') in a linear or non-linear array. Each facet can be integral to the member or coupled to the member. The channel is configured to transfer heat generated by the LEDs through convection. Fins can be disposed within the channel, extending from the inner surface of the member to an inner channel. The fins are configured to transfer heat away from, and provide a greater surface area for convecting heat away from, the member. For example, one or both of the channels can transfer heat by a venturi effect.

Heat management for a light fixture with an adjustable optical distribution

A method of assembling a light fixture includes positioning a first and a second portion of a light fixture adjacent one another. The method includes applying a brazing material between these portions and fastening the portions together with a coupling device, wherein one or more gaps are formed therebetween the portions. The method includes pre-heating the portions and the brazing material to a first temperature and placing them into a molten salt bath, wherein the brazing material flows into the gaps. The method includes cooling the fastened portions to form a metallurgical bond therebetween. The fixture includes a base, a manifold chamber, and a plurality of structures extending from a second surface of the base to the chamber, which defines a manifold therein. The base includes one or more openings extending therethrough. Each structure defines a wire way that is in communication with the chamber and one or more openings.

LED lighting heat sink and housing construction made by oven brazing technique

An edge-lit light emitting diode (LED) light panel includes a frame that has a first plate, a second plate, and a channel partially bounded by the first plate and the second plate. The edge-lit LED light panel also includes a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) disposed in the channel, and a wave guide disposed within the frame. The wave guide has an outer perimeter edge abutting the plurality of LEDs.

Systems, methods, and devices for providing an edge-lit light emitting diode light panel

A light module includes one or more LEDs coupled to a circuit board, a lens disposed over at least one LED, and an adhesive layer disposed between each LED and the lens. A flange extends from at least one side of the lens. The adhesive layer fixes the lens in an optical alignment over the corresponding LED. The adhesive layer includes at least one of a non-permeable layer with an adhesive material on the top and bottom surfaces, a gas-permeable layer with an adhesive material on the top and bottom surfaces, a deposited material, and an over mold material. An alignment tool including one or more optical recesses and one or more alignment features is used in the assembly of at least one of an optical assembly and a light module that includes the optical assembly. The alignment tool facilitates precise alignment of the lenses over the LEDs.

The present disclosure provides a recessed luminaire and recessed luminaire frame. The recessed luminaire frame includes a curved inner surface design in which the entire inner surface receives light from the luminaire and thus can be seen. The disclosure further provides a hydrographic printing process in which various desired designs can be printed onto a base material of the frame.

A modular heat sink includes one or more heat sink sections interconnected sequentially to each other to form a polar array. Each heat sink section includes a first connecting part and a second connecting part, where the first connecting part is configured to couple with the second connecting part of another heat sink section. Once assembled, the modular heat sink includes a channel formed substantially through the center of the modular heat sink. Each heat sink section is manufactured using an extrusion process. The assembled modular heat sink has one or more hollow portions within the overall shape that cannot be fabricated in a single extrusion process. One or more LEDs are coupled to the outer surface of the modular heat sink. The modular heat sink, with LEDs coupled thereto, is coupled to a wireway tube and mounted to a post-top light fixture to form an LED luminaire.

A lighting system comprises a row of light emitting diodes ('LEDs') receiving electricity and producing light and heat. The row of LEDs can be located in a channel or a groove of a piece of material, such as an aluminum extrusion or a bent piece of metal. The channel can have an optically reflective lining, for example, providing either diffuse or specular reflection. Accordingly, the channel can reflect light emitted by the LEDs. The piece of material can also include a heat sink for transferring heat from the LEDs to air via convection or air flow. The heat sink can comprise fins or protrusions that facilitate convection.
