An audio/video recording and communication device configured as a doorbell has a housing with a support structure and a removable faceplate. A flexible translucent membrane of the faceplate supports a button aligned with a mechanical switch when the removable faceplate is attached to the housing such that a plurality of light emitting elements are positioned around the mechanical switch transmit light through the translucent membrane. A removable battery casing is configured to hold at least one battery and has a release button physically coupling with a detent of the support structure to retain the removable battery casing within the support structure. The removable battery casing may be removed from the device for recharging without removing the device from a surface on which it is mounted.

Audio/video recording and communication devices

Systems and methods for communicating in a network using share signals in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, a method for communicating in a network may include receiving, from a first client device associated with an A/V recording and communication device, at a backend server in network communication with the A/V recording and communication device, a share signal comprising location data and first image data captured by a first camera of the A/V recording and communication device, the share signal including a command to share the first image data with a network of users; generating a power-up command signal based on the share signal; identifying at least one second camera to power up; and transmitting the power-up command signal to the at least one second camera, by the backend server, using a network interface.

Powering up cameras based on shared video footage from audio/video recording and communication devices

A garage door is controlled to open using an audio/video (A/V) recording and communication device. The device detects a vehicle within an area about the garage door and receives, using a camera, image data representative of an object associated with the vehicle. The device also compares the image data representative of the object associated with the vehicle with previously stored image data and identifies the object based on the comparing of the image data representative of the object with the previously stored image data. The device also authenticates an electronic device within the vehicle that is associated with the object by wirelessly communicating with the electronic device and determines, based at least in part on the authenticating of the electronic device within the vehicle, that the vehicle is an authorized vehicle. The device also transmits an actuation command to the garage door to cause the garage door to open.

Garage security and convenience features

According to aspects of the present disclosure, user-defined settings may be assigned to a dummy device in response to a first request. A device identifier of a particular electronic device may later be registered with the dummy device in response to a second request. Based on receiving data indicating an installation procedure of the particular electronic device and based on the device identifier being registered with the dummy device, user-defined settings may be transmitted to cause configuration of at least some of the user-defined settings on the particular electronic device. In some cases, the data indicating an installation procedure corresponds to a beacon from the particular electronic device (e.g., a smart home device), which includes the device identifier. Further, the user-defined settings may be provided to the particular electronic device by another electronic device (e.g., another smart home device).

Electronic device configuration using dummy devices

A network-connected security device is communicatively coupled to an audio/video (A/V) recording and communication device having a camera and a speaker. A method receives video data captured by the camera, and performs an object recognition algorithm upon the received video data to identify an object therein. The method performs a table lookup using the identified object, into a data structure that associates objects with at least one description of a predefined voice message. The method selects a description of a predefined voice message associated with the identified object, and transmits the selected description's predefined voice message to the A/V recording and communication device for output through the speaker.

Custom and automated audio prompts for devices

Temporarily suppressing and/or disabling notifications to a client device of events detected by a security device monitoring an environment. The notifications may be disabled and/or suppressed based upon a request from a user of the client device, or when the client device is nearby the security device. The user may request that notifications are suppressed for a definable suppression duration, wherein a timer is started to run for the suppression duration, and notifications are suppressed while the timer is running. When the client device is nearby the security device, suppression of the notifications for other users may be defined by a user-configurable table. A notification from a security device may include a suppress button to suppress notifications from that security device for a suppression period.

Temporary suppression of security event notifications

This application is directed to techniques and processes for notifying a user about power levels of electronic devices. For example, a first electronic device may receive data representing the power level of a second electronic device. The first electronic device may then determine that the power level is below a threshold power level. After the determination, the first electronic device may detect a user and/or a client device located within a threshold distance to the first electronic device and/or the second electronic device. The first electronic device may then send data to the second electronic device, wherein the data includes a command to emit light according to a pattern indicating that the power level is below the threshold power level. Additionally, the first electronic device may send a message to the client device, where the message indicates that the power level is below the threshold power level.

Providing device power-level notifications

Systems and methods for augmenting and sharing data from audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices are provided. In one embodiment, a method may include receiving, from an A/V recording and communication device, image data representing an image, analyzing the image data to determine one or more objects depicted by the image data, based on the analyzing the image data, determining at least one comment associated with the one or more objects; transmitting, to a first client device associated with the A/V recording and communication device, the image data representing the image and the at least one comment, receiving, from the first client device, consent for sharing the image data with a geographic area network, the consent indicating a selection of a comment from the at least one comment, and transmitting, to a second client device, the image data representing the image and the comment.

Augmenting and sharing data from audio/video recording and communication devices

The present embodiments relate to improvements to audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, including improved approaches to using a neighborhood alert mode for triggering multi-device recording, to a multi-camera motion tracking process, and to a multi-camera event stitching process to create a series of 'storyboard' images for activity taking place across the fields of view of multiple cameras, within a predetermined time period, for the A/V recording and communication devices.

Neighborhood alert mode for triggering multi-device recording, multi-camera locating, and multi-camera event stitching for audio/video recording and communication devices

Video footage captured by A/V recording and communication devices may be readily uploaded to the cloud and shared with a requesting party, such as a law enforcement agency. When a request is received from a requesting party for video footage, videos meeting the criteria specified by the requesting party may be determined. Consent requests may then be sent to users associated with each of the A/V recording and communication devices that recorded the videos meeting the criteria specified by the requesting party. When user consents to share the videos, the videos may be provided to the requesting party.

Sharing video footage from audio/video recording and communication devices

Systems and methods provide a notification of a connectivity problem of a video doorbell to a smartphone. A first communication link between the video doorbell and a backend server is determined unavailable, such as when a password used by the video doorbell to access a local area network (LAN) is not accepted by the LAN. A Bluetooth transceiver of the video doorbell is activated and a Bluetooth signal transmitted from the smartphone is detected. A second communication link between the video doorbell and the smartphone via the Bluetooth transceiver is established and a message is sent to the smartphone, via the Bluetooth transceiver, indicating that the password used by the video doorbell to access the LAN is not accepted by the LAN. The message causes an application running on the smartphone to display a notification on a display of the smartphone indicating the communication problem.

Reporting connectivity problems for electronic devices

Sharing video footage recorded by audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, such as video doorbells and security cameras. When an A/V recording and communication device records video footage of suspicious activity, or even criminal activity, a user viewing the footage may alert his or her neighbors by sharing the video. In various embodiments, the user may share the video with anyone of the user's choosing, including neighbors, friends, and family.

Configuring motion detection by a security device. The security device includes a camera configured to capture images of an environment in front of the security device and a motion sensor for detecting motion within the environment. The system also includes a server and a client device that are interconnected by a network. An AI learning module interacts with a user of the client device to capture an image of the user within the environment in front of the security device, and determines parameters for the motion sensor based upon analysis of the image to determine a location of an exempt area relative to the security device. The motion detector is configured based upon the determined parameters.
