A playset comprises a plurality of hotspots positioned within a plurality of scenes. A switching mechanism is configured to selectively couple to the each of the plurality of hotspots and is communicatively coupled with a controller. The controller is configured to establish communication with a first object using a first hotspot and determine an object type of the first object and a location of the first object within the playset. The location of the first object corresponds to a scene that contains the first hotspot. The controller is further configured to select an interactive media based on the object type and the location of the first object, select a first media file based on the selected interactive media, and instruct the first media file to be output on an output device.

A playset comprises a near field communication extending system. The near field communication extending comprises a main antenna and a plurality of extending antennas. The main antenna is positioned at a first location of the playset and configured to wirelessly communicate to a near field communication device of a mobile device. Each of the plurality of extending antennas is connectable to the main antenna via a plurality of connection elements. An example method generally includes reading, via a wireless data connection between a physical object and a mobile device, a token stored on the physical object. The token may include at least a unique identifier of the physical object. A request to transfer ownership of the physical object to an owner of the mobile device is generated, and the request may include at least the unique identifier of the physical object. The generated request is transmitted to a distributed ledger system, and a response is received from the distributed ledger system indicating whether the transfer was successful. The indication of whether the transfer was successful is displayed on the mobile device.

In various embodiments, a map inference application automatically maps a user space. A camera is positioned within the user space. In operation, the map inference application determines a path of a first moving object within the user space based on a tracking dataset generated from images captured by the camera. Subsequently, the map inference application infers a walking space within the user space based on the path. The map inference application then generates a model of at least a portion of the user space based on the walking space. One or more movements of a second object within the user space are based on the model. Advantageously, unlike prior art solutions, the map inference application enables a model of a user space to be automatically and efficiently generated based on images from a single stationary camera.

Embodiments provide for the rendering of illumination effects on real-world objects in augmented reality systems. An example method generally includes overlaying a shader on the augmented reality display. The shader generally corresponds to a three-dimensional geometry of an environment in which the augmented reality display is operating, and the shader generally comprises a plurality of vertices forming a plurality of polygons. A computer-generated lighting source is introduced into the augmented reality display. One or more polygons of the shader are illuminated based on the computer-generated lighting source, thereby illuminating one or more real-world objects in the environment with direct lighting from the computer-generated lighting source and reflected and refracted lighting from surfaces in the environment.

To provide masks for augmented reality (AR) effects in real-time, the embodiments described herein capture a plurality of images of an environment that includes one or more real-world objects after initiating an AR session with an AR device located in the environment. Upon detecting a trigger to generate an AR effect targeting a first real-world object of the one or more real-world objects, a first virtual representation of the first real-world object is generated, based on the plurality of images of the environment, and a second virtual representation of a second real-world object of the one or more real-world objects is generated based on the plurality of images of the environment, wherein the second real-world object is at least partially occluded by the first real-world object.
