Embodiments of the disclosure relate to the use of dyes that impart localized regions of reduced transmittance across specific wavelength ranges. The inclusion of transmittance-attenuating dyes into a lens provides enhanced color contrast by tuning the spectrum of visible light transmission through the lens.

High efficiency polarizing lens with color enhancement

Ophthalmic lens for improving vision

The object of this invention is to provide optical articles having one or more transmittance-attenuating dyes. Each dye attenuates transmission of a certain wavelength range. Different dyes can be combined in different concentrations to tune the transmittance spectrum through a lens. The transmittance-attenuating dyes can be incorporated into different optical articles using different production methods.

Color-balanced lenses exhibiting reduced blue light transmittance

Disclosed are methods () for preparing a laminate incorporable to a surface of an optical lens and methods () for incorporating the laminate on the surface of the optical lens. The laminate is prepared by laminating an optical film (), such as a polycarbonate film, on each side of a functional film using an adhesive that is capable of preventing optical defects in the laminates during a thermoforming process and an injection molding process. The adhesive has optimal thermomechanical properties that include that the optical film () coated with said adhesive has a modulus by compression greater than 6&#xd7;10Pa, and preferably greater than 2&#xd7;10Pa at a temperature from about 130&#xb0; C. to 150&#xb0; C. The laminate is incorporated on the optical lens via thermoforming followed by injection molding with overmolding technology.

Adhesive for PC-MOF application

Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a series of PC resin additives for maintaining the color stability and blue-cut performance during injection molding. The additives may be used to adapt a PC resin customarily used for sun protection lenses for clear lens applications.

Polycarbonate resin compositions with consistent color and stable blue-cut performance

This invention relates to the development of a multi-layer PC polar laminate and its cut and form process. The laminate displays increased adhesion between a PC film layer and an adjacent film layer. As a result of the increased adhesion, less adhesive may be applied between laminate layers, which positively affects PC cracking and mold cavity contamination.
