A method and system are disclosed for creating three-dimensional models in a graphics texture mapping system and are especially useful for creating three-dimensional urban models. A computer includes a graphics application program and an application programming interface. A single rectangular, composite building texture map is formed for each of a plurality of three-dimensional objects corresponding to individual buildings and have a reduced area of pixels within each composite building texture map as caused by rotating individual images. A site model clip map image contains each composite building texture map in a spatially correct position that has been expanded such that no overlap remains.

Texture mapping system used for creating three-dimensional urban models

An image processing system renders, displays and provides virtual user navigation through multiple size and aspect views of a three-dimensional (3D) geometric model of an object, such as an urban scene. A user interface, such as a mouse or joystick device, is coupled to a digital image processor and is employed to supply image manipulation signals to the digital image processor for manipulating images displayed upon a digital image display device. The digital image display device contains an overview display window that displays the object from a 'bird's eye' or map perspective, and an inset display window that displays the object from a 'down inside the scene' perspective. In response to user interface-sourced commands, the processor can swap the two image perspectives and/or controllably navigate through the inset image.

Computer-resident mechanism for manipulating, navigating through and mensurating displayed image of three-dimensional geometric model

A fingerprint sensing device includes a fingerprint sensor, a processor for determining an actual fingerprint position on the fingerprint sensor relative to a desired fingerprint position, and a finger position indicator for generating a finger position indication to assist the user in positioning the finger to the desired fingerprint position based upon the actual fingerprint position on the fingerprint sensor. The processor preferably calculates a fingerprint center point defining the actual fingerprint position. The fingerprint sensor may be provided by an electric field sensor in integrated circuit form. The finger position indicator may be provided by a visual indicator, such as a desired position image indicia generator for generating image indicia on a display screen relating to the desired fingerprint position on the fingerprint sensor, and wherein an actual fingerprint position image is also generated relative to the desired position image indicia on the display screen. The desired position image indicia may preferably be a desired fingerprint center point indicia image. Method aspects of the invention are also disclosed.

An associative architecture for a static data flow processing system comprises a functional computation unit in which data processing operations are executed, a data processing execution control structure (template) storage and control unit and communication channels through which the functional computation unit and the template storage and control unit communicate with one another. The template storage and control unit controls the supply of data to be processed by the functional computation unit and includes memory for storing a plurality of templates. Each template storage and control unit assembles data processing messages for application to a first of the communication channels for controlling the execution of a data processing operation by the functional computation unit. Each message contains the address of that template to which the result of the data processing operation is returned and stored in a return buffer, an opcode and either the data directly or the address of the template that contains the data to be processed by the functional computation unit. Each template also stores the status of a data processing execution cycle. Each template continuously monitors the communications channels for its address and, upon detecting its address, controllably interfaces prescribed information associated with the execution of a data processing operation with respect to the communication channels.

A system activity monitor for monitoring the performance of an electronic apparatus, e.g., a computer. The system activity monitor includes a plurality of data acquisition modules that are connected to the monitored system as desired. The actual connection is made via a customizing board that provides the necessary flexibility so that the system activity monitor can be connected at any desired location of the monitored computer system. An event board of the system activity monitor detects the occurrence of predetermined events. An event occurs when a predetermined sequence of signals occurs within the monitored system; the sequence is determined by the user. When an event is detected an accumulator board of the system activity monitor accumulates performance data of the monitored system.
