A portable restraining passenger safety harness includes a harness body and a pair of shoulder straps. The harness body contains a left shoulder area and a right shoulder area, and the size of the safety harness can be adjusted by adjusting the height of the left and right shoulder areas. The harness is securable to a vehicle by a vehicle seat belt passing behind the child through a back panel located on a rear portion of the harness.

A method of immobilizing a shopping cart has the steps: a) providing a shopping cart braking system mountable to a forward frame member of a shopping cart, the braking system having a bracket, an axle within the bracket, an arm pivotally affixed to the axle and having a distal end pivotable about the axle between a horizontal position and a vertical braking position, with a resilient brakepad affixed to the distal end of the arm; b) mounting the braking system to a forward frame member of a shopping cart; and c) pivoting the arm from the horizontal to the braking position with the resilient brakepad acting as a brake preventing movement of the shopping cart.

A vest includes a vest body having a back portion, a first side portion connected to the back portion and a second side portion connected to the back portion. The first side portion has a first outer surface and the second side portion has a second inner surface. The first side portion has a first connector and the second side portion has a second connector so that when the first side portion overlaps the second side portion the first connector joins to the second connector connecting the first side portion and the second side portion in a closed position. A belt has a first end and a second end that are connectable so that the belt surrounds the back portion, the first side portion and second side portion of the vest body when the first end and the second end are connected in a connected position.
