A computing platform of a vehicle may receive a request, from a mobile application accessing a secure vehicle function, to create a secure tunnel between the computing platform and the mobile device; retrieve an application certificate from the mobile application; and validate the creation of the secure tunnel using the application certificate and a module certificate from a local policy table of the computing platform. A mobile device, connected to a computing platform of a vehicle may execute a mobile application requiring a secure vehicle function; send a request to create a secure tunnel with the computing platform responsive to access of by the mobile application of the secure vehicle function; and send to the computing platform an application certificate corresponding to the mobile application to validate creation of the secure tunnel.

Secure tunneling for connected application security

Systems and methods for managing mobile device control of vehicle functions and subsystems using policy control are disclosed. A computing platform of a vehicle may receive a request, from a mobile application, to access one or more secure vehicle functions and subsystems. The computing platform may retrieve application permissions for the mobile application from a policy table to determine whether to allow the requested access, deny the requested access or to prompt a driver for permission to allow access to the secure vehicle function.

A nomadic device may be configured to connect to a vehicle computing system (VCS) over a local connection and to a location service over a wide-area connection, receive point-of-interest data over the wide-area connection from the location service, and provide the point-of-interest data to the VCS over the local connection for use by a navigation application of the VCS. The VCS may be configured to connect over a local connection to a nomadic device configured to execute a location application to connect to a location service over a wide-area connection, receive user interface input requesting point-of-interest data for use by a navigation application of the VCS, and responsive to the input, send a command over the local connection to request the point-of-interest data from the location application.

Automated point of interest updates

A first computing device registers a first grammar that is stored in a persistent memory of the first computing device and that is a system grammar of the first computing device. The first computing device further registers at least one second grammar associated with an application stored in at least one second computing device. Input including may be received. The first grammar is selected for the command upon a determination that the input is specified as a command in each of the first grammar and the second grammar.
