A lighting system with selectable emission characteristics may include a housing, a controller, a first plurality of light sources operatively coupled to the controller and carried by the housing, and a second plurality of light sources operatively coupled to and controlled by the controller and carried by the housing. The first and second pluralities of light sources may be operable to emit first and second combined lights, respectively, and to emit a first light having a wavelength within the range of 650 nanometers to 700 nanometers, a second light having a wavelength within the range of 500 nanometers to 570 nanometers, and a third light having a wavelength within the range of 430 nanometers to 470 nanometer. The second light may be characterized by a human photopic response of greater than 0.0 and less than 0.4 throughout the range from 500 nanometers to 570 nanometers.

Illumination and grow light system and associated methods

A luminaire is for use in a lighting apparatus that includes a plurality of luminaires and a computerized device. The luminaire includes a plurality of lights and a controller. The luminaire is operated to emit source light characterized by a dominant source light wavelength within a range from 390 nanometers to 750 nanometers, and with a different dominant source light wavelength than the source light of at least one other luminaire in the lighting apparatus, and such that the source light emitted by the luminaire is combined with the source light emitted by the at least one other luminaire to form a combined light. The dominant source light wavelength of the luminaire is variable with time, and the controller operates the plurality of LEDs such that a color temperature of the combined light does not vary more than 5% across the length and width of the area of illumination while the dominant source wavelength varies with time.

Luminaire for use in a system for generating non-homogenous light and associated methods

An adaptive light system including a color matching engine, a controller, and a plurality of light sources each configured to emit a source light. The color matching engine determines a dominant wavelength of a selected color, and a combination of the light sources that the controller may operate to emit a combined wavelength that approximately matches the dominant wavelength of the selected color. A color capture device transmits a source color signal designating the selected color. A method of adapting light comprises receiving a selected color, converting a value representing a dominant wavelength of the selected color, determining a combination of and percentages of colors emitted by the plurality of light sources that may be combined to form an adapted light that matches the selected color, and operating the light sources along with a white light to emit the adapted light.

Adaptive light system and associated methods

A lighting apparatus comprising a plurality of luminaires, each luminaire comprising a controller configured to operate the luminaire and positioned in communication with a computerized device. Each luminaire may be selectively operable to emit source light characterized by a dominant source light wavelength within a range from 390 nanometers to 750 nanometers. Additionally, at least two of the plurality of luminaires may be operable to emit source lights with different dominant source light wavelengths, and such that one or more source lights emitted by the plurality of luminaires may combine to form a combined light at a distance from the plurality of luminaires defined as a combining distance. Furthermore, the dominant source light wavelength of at least some of the luminaires of the plurality of luminaires may be variable with time.

Lighting system for accenting regions of a layer and associated methods

A lighting system with adjustable wavelength output that may include a plurality of light sources, a controller positioned in electrical communication with the plurality of light sources, and an optical sensor system positioned in electrical communication with the controller. The controller may be configured to selectively operate each light source of the plurality of light sources to emit one or more source lights. The optical sensor system may be configured to sense a reflected light that is reflected by an object upon which the source lights are incident. The controller may be configured to operate the plurality of light sources responsive to the signal received from the optical sensor system.

An LED lamp comprising a housing, a drive circuit, and a plurality of LED dies driven by the drive circuit, The plurality of LED dies may be in a ratio of at least one of 15 mint LED dies to 5 hyper red LED dies to 4 blue LED dies and 1 mint LED die to 1 hyper red LED die to 1 blue LED die. The drive circuit may operate the LED dies such that a relative peak intensity of the blue LED dies is within the range from 80%-90% or 90%-100% of a peak intensity of the hyper red LED dies, and a relative peak intensity of the mint LED dies is within the range of 50%-60% or 30%-40% of the peak intensity of the hyper red LED dies.

A lighting system comprising a light source, a controller operably coupled to the light source, and a timekeeping device operably coupled to the controller. The controller is configured to receive a selected action time associated with an agricultural product. The agricultural product includes an associated circadian rhythm defining an optimal action time range. The controller is configured to determine a lighting schedule responsive to the selected action time, the optimal action time range, and a time of day indicated by the timekeeping device, the lighting schedule being configured to impose a circadian rhythm on the agricultural product to shift the optimal action time range such that the selected action time coincides with the optimal action time range. The controller is configured to operate the light source according to the lighting schedule.

An illumination and grow light system and associated methods are provided to produce an emission spectrum which may be optimized for plant response curve, as well as provide high quality light with respect to the human response curve. Embodiments of the present invention may include highly efficient tunable lamps and associated modulation controls that allow specific radiation wavelength bands to be manipulated, the emission direction and intensity to be varied, and the output power to be coordinated to create high fluxes of photosynthetic active radiation while maintaining a desirable color temperature and high color rendering index.

Provided herein are systems and methods for outdoor lighting, which generally include two or more light sources. One light source is a monochromatic light source producing a light with a peak wavelength of about 580 nm or above. A second light source is a polychromatic light source producing a green-tint white light. During a standby operational mode, a control system maintains the first light source illuminated. The control system, which includes an integrated imaging system, illuminates the second light source when the imaging system identifies a target in an illumination area. Methods of preparing and using such outdoor lighting system are also provided.

Sustainable outdoor lighting system for use in environmentally photo-sensitive area

An LED lamp comprising a housing, a drive circuit, LED dies driven by the drive circuit, and an output-select controller to program the drive circuit to drive the LED dies in one of a pre-sleep configuration and a general lighting configuration. The LED dies comprise LED dies of a first spectral output having a peak wavelength between 500 nm and 600 nm and of a second spectral output having a peak wavelength greater than 600 nm, first blue LED dies having a peak wavelength between 420 nm and 480 nm, and second blue LED dies having a peak wavelength below 420 nm. The drive circuit operates each of the LED dies of the first and second spectral outputs and the second blue LED dies in the pre-sleep configuration, and the LED dies of the first and second spectral outputs and the first blue LED dies in the general lighting configuration.

Tunable LED lamp for producing biologically-adjusted light and associated methods

A system for generating light with reduced physioneural compression. The system includes a first light source operable to emit light within a first wavelength range corresponding to a first photoreceptor and a second light source operable to emit light within a second wavelength range corresponding to a second photoreceptor. The system includes a controller functionally coupled to each of the first light source and the second light source. The controller is configured to alternately operate one of the first light source and the second light source with a duty cycle that is less than a response time of the visual cortex, but greater than a response time of physioneural cells, optionally including a latency between operation of light sources. The system may further include a third light source corresponding to a third photoreceptor.

Lighting system with reduced physioneural compression and associate methods

A tunable light-emitting diode (LED) lamp for producing an adjustable light output is provided. In one embodiment, the LED lamp includes a drive circuit for driving LED dies in one of a plurality of light output configurations (e.g., a pre-sleep configuration, a phase-shift configuration, and a general lighting configuration). Further, the LED lamp may include an output select controller and/or input sensor electrically coupled to the drive circuit to select the light output configuration. As such, the LED lamp is tunable to generate different levels of spectral output, appropriate for varying biological circumstance, while maintaining a commercially acceptable light quality and color rendering index.

A signal adapting chromacity system to control that may include a signal conversion engine to receive a source signal designating a color of light defined by a two spatial plus luminance dimensional color space, such as the xxY color space. The signal conversion engine may convert the source signal to a three dimensional color space defined within a subset gamut of a full color gamut, such as an RGW, RBW, or GBW color space. The subset gamut may include a first color light, a second color light and a high efficacy light. The signal conversion engine may perform a conversion operation to convert the source signal to an output signal, using the output signal to drive light emitting diodes (LEDs). The conversion operation may be a matrix, angular or linear conversion operation.
