A bearing bushing is provided with a sealing ring having a conical bore surface on the side remote from the side at which a shaft is inserted. The rim of the bearing bushing is provided with a concial surface which cooperates with the conical surface of the sealing ring during insertion of the shaft so as to restrain the sealing ring in a manner that prevents it from being forced out of the bearing bushing. Alternatively, a restraining ring having a circumferential projection with a conical surface can be arranged to prevent unseating of the sealing ring when the shaft is inserted from the sealing ring side of the bearing bushing. A shaft being inserted exerts axial force on the sealing ring, causing the inner portion of the sealing ring to expand radially as the conical surface of the sealing ring slidingly ascends the conical surface of the bushing rim or restraining ring, thereby allowing easy insertion of the shaft.

A sealing device for bearing bushings, especially for universal joints including a cup-shaped bearing bushing overlying a universal joint pin comprising an inner sealing ring, a sheet metal part connected to the bearing bushing adapted to fix the inner sealing ring in place in an axial direction, and an outer sealing ring provided on a shoulder of the joint pin supported in the bearing bushing, the inner sealing ring has a retaining part between the rolling elements and the free end of a preferably radially oriented shank of the sheet metal part, which has one or more openings, which connect the spaces defined by the outer sealing ring, the inner sealing ring, and the sheet metal part to each other.

Sealing device for bearing bushings particularly for universal joints

A swivel pin bearing for rotatably seating a swivel pin in the yoke eye of a yoke arm. The bearing includes a bushing having a base portion and a sleeve portion integrally formed with the periphery of the base portion, this sleeve portion being arranged in the yoke eye with radial seating play, and a support plate releasably secured to the yoke arm. The base portion has a planar outer surface which opposes a planar inner surface of the support plate. An element is provided for coupling the bushing to the support plate such that axial displacement of the bushing relative to the support plate is prevented. The bushing is capable of sliding radial displacement relative to the support plate which is greater than the radial seating play of the bushing in the yoke eye.

For a bearing bushing of generally cup-like form for universal joints including a universal joint pin, a check plate disposed between the axial end face of the pin and the bottom wall of the bushing, said check plate having on the side thereof confronting the pin concentric or circumferentially distributed projections with check surfaces and in that, proceeding from the end surface facing away from the pin, it has recesses or the like, which are arranged under the projections in the axial direction.

In combination, a bearing bushing for universal joints of generally cup-like form, a sealing ring for sealing a space between the bearing bushing and a shoulder of a machine part supported in the bushing, a circumferentially extending radially inwardly directed flange at the open axial end of said bearing bushing defining an annular interior recess, said sealing ring having a radially outwardly directed circumferential projection engaging in said annular recess interiorly of said flange, and means defining at least one axial opening in said sealing ring defining a passage connecting the running space of the bearing with an annular space outboard of the flange bounded by said flange and sealing ring.

Front seal for bearing cups, in particular, for universal joints, having a seal ring arranged on the bearing cup between the bearing cup and a shoulder of the machine component it supports, characterized in that the seal ring (13, 31) is of T-shaped cross section comprising a body portion and a part of axially projecting sealing flanges having bore faces (24, 25, 34, 37) which are arranged adjacent to corresponding outside surfaces (26, 27, 35) of the machine component (2) and the bearing cup (6).
